  1. Q2. (2 Peter 1:19). In what ways do the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments act for you as "a light shining in a dark place"? What does the darkness represent? What does the light represent? The Scriptures of the OT act as light for us because this is the time God chose to interact with us. Before this time there was only a dark abyss. This is when the Messianic prophesies promised hope that God has worked out a plan for our Salvation. The NT is a continuation of the the Messianic promises stated in the OT. Now we have come out of the dark and move into vision and light because Jesus has offered hope by working out a plan of salvation. The darkness represents evil working against the Light of the World, Jesus Christ our Savior. Darkness and light is the struggle of Good overcoming evil. The Light is the Messaniac prophesies in the OT and in the NT it is Jesus crushing the enemy by His victory on the cross by offering His blood for the atonement of our sins.
