  1. In the book of Genesis the creation of this world and all the creatures, and man and woman are described in detail. The beginning of this Psalm includes some general statements about God as the Creator, establishing the Lord's right as King of Heaven and Earth. Verses 3-6 describe the requirements for Man in order to be able to climb the Mountain of the Lord. God requires us to acknowledge the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as the only focus of our worship. We also need to be honest in all that we do, in order to receive the Lord's blessing. God's blessing enables us to worship Him, and call upon His presence. Vs. 7-10 There is no God or deity that is more powerful and more loving than our God. As the "King of Glory" he takes care of the weak and vulnerable, blessing the humble with His Divine guidance.
  2. I have been reading the Psalms to someone who hasn't experienced them fully. I read the Psalm to him then we pray together to ask God to help us incorporate the meaning of the Psalms into our lives. By reading the Psalms to someone else, I benefit from their perspective of the meaning of the Psalms. More often than not he sees something in the Psalm that I have missed.
  3. God's love for me is perfect. His love is always there whenever I turn to Him in prayer. He really does restore my soul. Only He can satisfy my deepest longings for acceptance, security and peace of mind. I am better able to serve Him by helping others when my own needs for Love have been met.
  4. In both Psalms the psalmist describes him self as broken hearted, discouraged, sad, longing for God, feeling oppressed by his enemies, and wandering around in grief. Throughout both Psalms he remembers what it felt like to sing for joy, giving God thanks for all he has been blessed with, put his trust and hope in the Lord, and realize that God pours His unfailing love upon him. He wants to go to the house of the Lord and sing songs with his harp and he asks God to send out His light and truth and lead him to His holy mountain. When I feel depressed, I feel alone and abandoned by not only God but my friends and family. It helps me when I read the Bible, or go to Mass and listen to the word of God and receive communion. One of the reasons I feel blessed is that the Catholic Church celebrates Mass 7 days a week so I can always turn to God when I need him. I remember that Jesus loves me so much that he was willing to suffer a death on the Cross as well as the humiliation of being treated like a criminal. Jesus spent his time here on earth teaching us that God loves us and cares for us like a shepherd looks after his sheep. I love the parable of the shepherd who had 100 sheep, and one of them went astray. The shepherd searched night and day until he found his lost sheep and celebrated the lost sheep's return to the fold. I also remember the parable of the prodigal son and how happy his father was when he finally came home.
  5. For me dwelling in the "house of the Lord", means to celebrate the presence of the Lord in my life, praise Him for all He has done for me, pray for those who need the Lord's help, sing hymns, take Holy Communion ( which as a Roman Catholic I believe is the body and blood of Jesus ) confess my sins, spend time with my fellow Christians, learn from the readings from the Old and New Testaments, learn from the Homily, listen to the choir, all done at my church St. James. The time I spend in the house of the Lord, gives me strength, hope, and wisdom to deal with life outside of my parish. Seeking the Lords face is when I sit quietly and meditate on His word, and pray for a greater understanding of the Bible. I seek the face of the Lord when I turn to Him in times of need as well as times when I am grateful for all He has done for me. David reminds me at the end of this Psalm, that God has a plan for me. I need to accept that His timetable and my time table are not always the same. I need to trust that God knows what is best for me and have faith that he will answer my prayers when he knows I am ready. Post Options Enable em
  6. David marvels at how present the Lord is in our lives. God is always with us and knows every secret thought, hope and desire. We are so precious to God that he has recorded every day of our life in His book. David also marvels at how perfectly God created our bodies, heart and soul. In verses 23 and 24 David asks God to cleanse his heart and mind from any evil or distracting thoughts. When I get anxious or fearful it is because I forgotten that God is always there, loving and protecting me from anything that will hurt me.
  7. t\ Many of my problems come from my low self-esteem. When I read this Psalm I am reminded that God knows my heart and loves me and has "crowned me with glory and honor". This Psalm also reminds me that it is my responsibility to care for the animals, the environment as well as my fellow man. Elisabeth
