Q4. (1:26-27) Why does James make taming the tongue and caring for the poor the prime tests of pure religion? Why not the quality of our quiet time or worship? Taming the tongue is one very difficult habit to develop. It is so easy to just "express one's opinion" or "exercise one's freedom of speech" but in the process, one could actually sin against his neighbor by being too judgmental. Caring for the poor is as difficult as taming the tongue,because humans will help others but there is always this fear that they are being taken advantage of. A person who can tame his tongue and care for the poor truly loves his neighbor as God loves him.

Q3. What is this "perfect law" that James mentions? How would you define it? How does it relate to the "royal law" (2:8)? In what sense does it bring liberty? The "perfect law" says love God and love your neighbor as God loves you. The "perfect law" and "royal law" are one. This law brings liberty because it releases us from sin.

Q2. (1:22) Why are we so easily fooled into thinking that listening to Bible teaching means that we are living out righteous lives? What is the nature of the self-deception? It is very easy to believe that we are righteous because we are listening to God's Word. But listening to the Word of God is not enough to make us righteous. God wants us to be practicing Christians.

The Word of God has always guided me in my daily life. From the moment I wake up to the time I go to bed, I try to be inspired God's Word. When challenges cross my path, I always turn to the Word of God for direction, and as expected, I am always at peace with the outcome. The Word of God talks to our spiritual self not to our physical self. The material world is trying to conquer the physical side of humans but the Word of God speaks to their spiritual side.

God grants wisdom to those who have faith in him. Each trial is a step towards God's wisdom.

Trials have strengthened my faith in God. They serve as reminders that I can't do much in life without God's guidance. We all need trials because they make us realize how vulnerable we humans are.

People who blame God for evil don't truly understand God's Love for us. God loves us so much that he gave us free will to enable us to make our own decisions and choices.

Trials have made me a stronger person and have brought me closer to God.
