  1. I believe much the same as many others here; that the food of the Babylonian King would not have been food ordained by God that the Israelite people could eat. Daniel, in good conscience, could not consume food that went against the Law and in this respect, he was certainly holding to his faith God. It showed resolve of spirt and that; while the Babylonian King could take his birthright, the king could not take away or separate Daniel from God.
  2. Q3. (Colossians 3:8) Why are sins of the tongue so easy to slip into? Sins of the tongue are the behavior of the world; they're around us everyday, we're exposed to them constantly. Like a sponge, we soak them up and exude them out because the unsaved world expect us to. Just as it is easy to alter your speech after being exposed to a dialect or language, exposure to 'sins of the tongue' causes us to slip into that behavior; almost without though. . In what ways do they damage us and others? Many of these sins tear people down and tear down relationships; making us (as followers of Christ) appear to be no different than anyone else. This damages our testimony and shows the world that we're not really different; we merely claim to be. Worse still, some of these sins destroy others by spreading things that should remain secret or worse--by telling things that simply are untrue. How can we break free of sins of the tongue? Each time we catch ourselves slipping, stop, pray for forgiveness from the Lord, and ask for forgiveness from those who have heard us. After repeating this behavior, we will be less inclined to speak without thinking.
  3. The action of the Gospel is to grow and bear fruit; both in the world and in Christ-followers. It bears fruit in the world by bringing more to the Truth that the Gospel proclaims; it bears fruit in us by leading us to confront, and repent from our sin; and also encourages us to know that God loves us and wishes us to be saved. By reminding the Church at Colossae of the global scope of the Gospel, Paul tells them that God is the only God; all others are false and their teachings do not bring salvation. In modern times, many churches have fallen away from the true message of the Gospel and are preaching a false theology. Chruches also begin to reject the teachings of the Gospel and do not seek to serve or to save the lost; instead they often 'close ranks' among themselves. In worse cases, they reject the teachings altogether and allow themselves to be led by the ungodly who reject some bibical teachings as being sin; when they are indeed sin. Thus, they begin to lead their own flocks astray and into condemntion.
