  1. God knew as humans we would need a tangible image of Him to fully accept him, a jolt, if you will. As for the Trinity, I don't think our minds can ever grasp the full scope of that, but I believe it will make sense to us in the afterlife. I love the example that was given one person, but three function, a wife, a mother, a daughter. I think that God wants us to rely on faith to believe! "Faith is believing the possible and trusting the impossible." That's what makes us better Christians, believing in the impossible!
  2. Q2. Paul is reassuring them that he will never stop praying for them to be strengthened by the power of God. He is praying for these specific results: They will be FILLED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WILL, LIVE IN A MANNER WORTHY OF THE LORD AND FULLY PLEASING TO THE LORD, BEARING FRUIT AND GROWING, STRENGTHENED, ENDURANCE, PATIENCE, AND THANKSGIVING In my opinion the most important thing is to be filled with the knowledge of His will. If we don't have that then all of the other results will become unimportant to us; therefore, become missing in our lives. When these things are missing from our lives we become tired of waiting for God's answer and God's timing which goes back to Q1 about false teachings. When we grow tired of waiting we look for something that will give us instant answers instead of waiting for God's perfect timing.
  3. In my info post, I forgot to tell everyone that I was raised Southern Baptist but converted to Catholicism in 1999. Questions: 1a. The words I find particularly inspirational are HOPE, WORD OF TRUTH, AND BEARING FRUIT AND GROWING. 1b. I believe Paul knew how tempting it is and will continue to be for us to want instant gratification. He knew that false teachings will always be a problem, because it will entice people to follow because they can see immediate results vs remaining faithful, patient and focused. I read a quote once that said, "If faith were easy, then there would be no mountains." Paul knew that faith wouldn't be easy for us. 1c. Churches becoming unimpressed with age old teachings is a big problem. They want to pick and choose parts of the Bible to fit their own agendas which falls right into the answer on 1b. Paul knew this would happen. Some churches want to take Scriptures out of context instead of telling the whole story.
  4. Hi, my name is Glenda. I am from Poteau, Oklahoma and this is my first online Bible study. I have done and currently in a weekly Bible study. I have been trying to discern what is in store for me for the last couple of years. I feel I am on the right track and just so you guys know. I feel that God is calling me to write a book particularly about recognizing God in our everyday lives.
