Letalism and asceicism are unable to restrain us from sin because they are constraints man has put upon himself. Nothing we do as men is perfect. Paul teaches us to follow after a loving god who is perfect in nature and dosen't ask sillyness of us. We are asked to obey and follow but God doesn't make demands of us he gives us our free will so when we do follow after God's heart it is a true willingness to respond to our father's will.

we are freed from the law because Christ fullfilled all that was required of us to loose the bonds. it shows that it christs work is done and through him we are not bound. we triumph over evil in that as we follow christ we are assured of our place in his kingdom. and it shows that evil cannot stand up to christ

When I think of beliefs systems in families I think of stories that get passed down from generation to generation. The stories always change over time taking on the flavor of the story teller. So the true story eventually becomes a fable. I was born into a LDS family with a set belief system. When the Lord called me to his true council, I found out how empty and false the things I had been taught for 35 years really were. I had no idea how captivated by it all I had been until I had to face the truth. I now realize how dangerous it is to believe in man without seeking God's council first.
