  1. (Romans 5:13, 20) What is Paul saying in these verses? Can there be sin without law? In what sense does the "trespass increase" (5:20) when the law is present? The first verse, Romans 5:13, this just makes sense to me. How can there be sin if there isnt a law identifying what you have done to go against GOD's will. However, I am struggling to wrap my brain around the meaning of the "trespass increase" portion of the question. Wow, I just got it. The law helps identify all of the different ways that we sin against GOD, which in turn would cause trespass to increase.
  2. What kinds of circumstances in modern life can you think of where a single person acts for an entire group? In what ways are members of the group tied to this person? I believe everyone covered how a single person acts for an entire group. My thoughts took me into a connected but different direction. I feel that this is where my faith comes into play, because I have to learn to trust that its GOD's will as to why this person has been placed into a leadership position over me. Why is that so difficult though? Often, the people that are in charge are the worse people suited for any type leadership role. I need to trust the LORD that there is an ultimate rhyme and reason as to why this person has been placed in this position. LORD, I pray for increased faith!!
  3. Q4. (Romans 5:9-11) What does "reconciliation" mean? Why is reconciliation with God necessary? We understand our having been saved by Jesus' death (5:10a, past tense). In what sense are we being saved (5:10b, present tense) by his life? What is Jesus doing for us in the present? I understand that we are reconciled by the Blood of Jesus Christ. However, I have conversed on several occasions with someone that is very knowledgeable of scripture, and I respect his understanding of scripture. He is of the opinion, that us being reconciled with GOD by the Blood of JESUS CHRIST and the acknowledgment of such is not the only requirement for our eternal salvation. Please forgive the run on sentence, Im a bit rushed. What occurs during the second judgment when we all stand trial for our deeds and transgressions.
