  1. Q5. What is the significance of the exalted Jesus walking among the lampstands? What does this teach us about the church? What does it teach us about Jesus? Jesus is shown as the master of the churches. The church must be willing to accept Christ as their lord and master in order to be effective. It teaches us that Jesus can be both supreme and lowly.

  3. Q4. The vision of Christ among the lampstands (1:12-20) is much different than the Carpenter-Teacher who walked the roads of Galilee and Judea. Why? What overall emotions is this vision of Jesus among the lampstands designed to evoke in the reader? Why is this understanding of Jesus important to a balanced faith? Christ in Revelation shows him as the Lord of all, and not as lowly human walking among the hills of Palestine. As a picture of the final times, the Lord needs to be seen as a High, lofty, worshipped figure. We must learn to give him our respect and our praise. This will lead to a balanced faith. Is our Jesus only the high and mighty Lord of all or is he our equal to whom we give our respect? We each must make our own minds.
  4. There is persecution all around the world. Some of it is less visible than other. Even in our own towns and cities there is persecution. It may be disguised as some thing else, but it is there. Reading Revelation will give the persecuted hope and assurance that the end is worth the trouble.
  5. Because they both use the same terms, it is a good example of the fact that the Trinity is made of 3 persons, but they are all the same and are one.
  6. In today's world, our faithful witness to our faith is the only example a number of people may have of the Christian faith. Jesus was the most faithful witness of all. We must follow his example despite persecution or ridicule.
