Q5. (2 Corinthians 4:15-18) In what way do problems and physical deterioration help us toward “an eternal weight of glory”? By preparing us growing us for the eternal life ahead. Why is it so easy to focus on temporal matters to the exclusion of eternal things? the Temporal matters are always in our face day in an day out and when we let our guard down it is easy to focus on them. That makes time with God that more important! Why is a focus on eternal things so important to our spiritual growth? Our focus on the Eternal helps us to grow in the image of God and shows forth to others What can we do to help shift our focus? Time with God in prayer, reading of his word and time spent with church community.

Q4. (2 Corinthians 4:8-12) How does it encourage you to know that Paul went through tremendous stress and pressure? It encourages me in that I wouldn't be alone if and when I step out and talk to others about Christ. What effect did these sufferings have on the way people could see Christ in Paul? The people saw the Authenticy and truth of what Paul proclaimed. Why is pain necessary to spiritual growth? It works out Christ's purposes but also teaches us. How does our pain allow others to assess our authenticity as Christians? They will see Jesus in us in the way we react to our suffering or trail.

Q3. (2 Corinthians 4:7) What truth is Paul seeking to communicate by this analogy of a treasure in a pottery jar? That we are vessels just a container that shows forth the light of the glory of God the treasure. What does the clay jar represent? our weakness and fraility. What does the treasure represent? God with all Surpassing power can work through us that is is he who is the power. What’s the paradox here? that we being Inperfect can show that we bear the light of the knowledge of the glory of God.

Q2. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) Since Satan has blinded people’s eyes to the truth, is there any hope for them? What strategies must we use to overcome spiritual blindness? How many people are likely to find Christ without intercessory prayer? I believe there is always hope for unbelievers especially through prayer and more are likely to find Christ with prayer then without. We must use the the strategies of prayer and truth and reliance on the Holy Spirit to prevent blindness.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 4:1-2) How do questionable ethics and ministry practices hurt the work of Christ? What is Paul’s alternative in verse 2b? Questionable ethics and ministry can and will lead people away from Christ. Paul's alternative is to be clean, open and honest and trust the Holy Spirit to speak to peoples consciences.

Q4. (2 Corinthians 3:18) Why is character change directly related to time deliberately spent in God’s presence? What is the theological word for the process of maturing in Christ? Have you noticed a change in the “degree of glory” you’re experiencing now compared to a few years ago? Why or why not? The more we spend time with God and in his word the more we take on a likeness of him, metamorphosing. I noticed a change at the beginning only because it was such a change in my eyes. Now I believe it is by degree and it may not be as noticeable now as it was but I'm still changing

Q3. (2 Corinthians 3:18) Moses glowed by spending time with God on Mt. Sinai, in his tent of meeting, and in the Tabernacle. How can we get a similar glow of the Spirit in our lives? In what way is meditating on Scripture beholding God? Is the low plane of Christianity in our day related to the time we spend in communion with the Lord? What is God leading you to do to increase your glow? When we spend time with God in reading his word we come to know our Lord better giving us this glow because when we meditate on the word we behold God. "as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor" II Corinthians 3: 18 I believe the low plane of Christianity is due to the lack of time we spend with the Lord. I believe the Lord is leading me to Serve more within in the Church.

Q2. (2 Corinthians 3:16-17) Why is the Holy Spirit essential to help people see truth clearly and be able to grasp it? What enables people to come to Christ at all? What kind of freedom does the Spirit give us when we become Christians? The Holy Spirit is essential because it is the source of our sight and our understanding without it we will be unable to know the truth and the love of God. It is the Holy Spirit that enables people to come to Christ by removing the blindness. The Freedom the Holy Spirit gives us is freedom from the written law.

Why did Moses’ face glow? Why did he cover it when he was out with the people? Why didn’t more people’s face glow in Moses’ time? What’s the difference between the spread of God’s glory in Moses’ time when compared to our own time? Moses face glowed because of his time spent with God and his closeness with God. He covered his face once he realized that it shone and frighten the people as they were afraid of being stricken down by God. The reason more peoples faces didn't glow was because stuborness, self interests and self perservation at that time was getting in the way. The difference today between the spread of God's Glory in Moses' Time to our time is that we have so many avenues to connect with God. To be in close commune with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Q4. (2 Corinthians 3:6a) Why is a Christian’s spiritual health so closely related to his or her involvement in ministry? What are the consequences of dropping out of church – for the believer? For Christ’s Kingdom? Our Spiritual health is is related to our involvement in ministry by being a part of the body of Christ when one part doesn't work we all suffer. No matter how insiginficant our service may be you are serving! helping the community of the church. Like excerise it strenghtens us in our spiritual gifts to minister and Tithing to support Chist's mission. The Consequences of dropping out of church could be a growing apart from Christ and his family and a weakening in one's self ( lunch for a wolf). What a scary thought.

Q3. (2 Corinthians 3:4-6) What is the balance between the need for training in ministry (either in the local church or in schools) and personal submission to the Spirit of God? Are you able to “listen to the Spirit’s voice” in your own life? Why would this ability be so important in being a competent minister? The Balance between Training in Ministry and personal submission to the Spirit of God is a good sound knowledge of the Scriptures and an interpretation of them, to think critically, to ask questions Followed with experience in church, character formation, leadership development. All used by God to make us Competent and Sufficient. This I believe my weakest point for me. I try but I don't know if can hear God correctly or at all. I believe that this is very important in order to a competent minister. How can you minister successfully and fruitfully if you can't hear God?

Posted 13 August 2011 - 12:44 PM Q2. (2 Corinthians 3:2-3) In what sense are we “living letters”? In what way can people “read us”? Why is it so important to be authentic, not phony, in our lives? What happens when people “read” something in you that they admire and mention it to you? How might you respond appropriately? We are living letters by how we act and by how we speak and the way we live our lives. Other people "read" this or see this which ties in to being not phony. It is very important to be authentic because by our authenticity we show that we aren't hypocrites that we honestly believe in Christ and his teaching. When someone mentions something to me usually I'm unprepared and miss the opportunity or give an answer that isn't for me, clear enough. I hope with God's help I will be able to give an answer that is clear all the time I'm asked.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 2:14-16a) In what sense is knowing God fragrant to people who are open to God? In what way is this fragrance repugnant to people who are closed to God? Have you suppressed your “fragrance” because some people are allergic to Christian perfume? If so, how can you regain the fragrance of Christ’s gospel? In knowing God our inner light reflects this drawing in others who sense it and are looking for it, It is repugnant to those only because they are more into what the world has to offer believing more the money, success and one's position in this life. Yes, I have and I try everyday not to supress it. I have come a long way only because I'm growing in the faith and I'm tired of being afraid of offending. One of our duties or requests from God is that we share our faith with others. In order to move forward I have found that Bible study and Church help strenghten me so that I lose that fear.

Q4. (2 Corinthians 2:10-11) How does Satan take advantage of our unforgiveness? By deceiving and outwitting us. Turning our anger into bitterness leaving us without peace. What are the symptoms in our own heart of unforgiveness? A sadness and being without peace. According to Matthew 6:14-15, how does holding unforgiveness hurt our spiritual lives? It hurts our relationship with God. If we are unable to forgive so is the Father of us. What would you have to do to really let go of your resentment and give it to God? depending on the severity of the hurt, I would have to pray and continually give it over to God.

Q3. (2 Corinthians 2:9) How does obedience to servant leaders help the church of Jesus Christ? Obedience keeps harmony and helps build and further the cause of Jesus Christ. How does obedience to self-serving leaders hurt the church? By creating dissention and hurting the church family Are you obedient to those whom God has placed over you in the Lord? Yes I would be should be in line with scripture. What is the relationship between obedience and church unity? Peace, building up of one another and Harmony.

Q2. (2 Corinthians 1:24) What does it mean to “lord it over” someone? To "lord it over" it have arrogance in knowledge over someone who may or may not have a complete understanding of somehthing. What is the balance between (1) good, strong leadership, (2) micromanaging, and (3) a complete laissez-faire approach to leadership? The balance would be to lead enough to teach without Micromanaging which would smother any inititive for leadership and with a little laissez-faire approach it would let the individual conduct or give freedom to act appropreately. What are the dangers of an authoritative leadership style? What are the dangers of a weak leadership style? The dangers of an authoritative leadership could lead to anger and an acting out of others as with a weak leadership it would lead to a falling away.

Q1. (2 Corinthians 1:21b-22) According to this verse, what does the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signify? How does the Spirit unite us with God? What is the promise of future blessing inherent in the Spirit’s presence? The presence of the Holy Spirit in our life signifies our consecrated and anointing with God as his. The Spirit unites us in this way by being a type of security deposit for everlasting life with the Father.

Q3. (2 Corinthians 1:10-11) Why does Paul ask people to pray for him? How do the prayers of others have an effect? What happened in your life that has helped you enter into a ministry of intercessory prayer? Pauls Asks people to pray for him because God does hear and answers and the effect of many people praying together becomes as one mind in one accord. "for where two or three come together in my name there am I with them" Matthew 18: 19-20. joining a Bible study group within my church has opened the ministry of intercessory prayer by caring and praying for our fellow members within and without the church.
