  1. This death is the historical death of Christ. When I come to saving faith, I join in Christ's death. I died with Christ on the cross and sin is done away with in my life.
  2. We move under the headship of Christ Jesus when we were united with Him in death. In order to bring about this change, we must die to sin. If we died with Christ, we are united in His resurrection. We receive life and, more importantly, eternal life. Our lives do not end when we die our earthly death. Thank you, Jesus, for your promise of everlasting life.
  3. Adam's sin brought judgment on all mankind. Christ became the head through his death which brought life for all men. Christ is our head because no one else could take away the sins of the whole world.
  4. Sin still exists but the law exposes the sin. By removing the law, Christ's grace covers our sins and remember our sins no more. We are not perfect but we are no longer in bondage to sin.
  5. Presidents, CEOs, fathers, and even mothers are single people who act for a group. The members of the group are a part of a body and the one acting for the group is the "head". Pastors may act as "heads" sometimes but they usually work in conjunction with a body of elders or other leadership accountability.
  6. Christ died for me when I was deep in sin. He has given me the victory. Since my victory is in Him, I no longer have to return to my sin and enmity with God. I am forgiven and the devil's lie have lost their grip on me.
  7. Abraham's faith in God justified Him since Christ had not yet arrived. For us, our justification also comes through faith, our faith in Christ, and allows us to experience His grace and peace. For me, justification means that I receive God's grace and peace through faith and I don't need to do anything else to pay for my sins and earn a place in God's family.
