  1. They did not have to fear any spirits, because Jesus rules and reigns over everything and all the principalities and powers are under his feet. Everything was made by Him and for Him, so He is above all. Christ has a place of honour at the right had of the Father. He is also seated, the victory is his, His dominion is forever and ever and NO power can come against Him. Halleluja, we can also share in that victory
  2. Paul prayed that the Holy Spirit would open their spiritual eyes to see Jesus as the risen Christ, sitting in the heavenly realm at the right hand of the Father. They had to look beyond the natural and start believing that the same power that had risen Jesus from the grave are available for them(us) too and that they had to move in that reality. The power operate through Christ in the church, his body on earth
  3. He will bring everlasting peace- no more wars and strife and sin. There will be peace between men, between the creation and above all, peace between men and God. We will see Him face to face and will be able to stand before Him and worship Him. Halleluja
  4. I think when Gideon realised that he was talking to the Angel of the Lord, he became convinced of his sinfulness and thought he was going to die. When the Angel told him that he will not die, he knew he could trust God and the peace of God that fills every believers hart, also filled his. He called the altar the Lord is Peace to remind him of it. Gideon knew that he would not die, but also that God will help him to deliver the people out of the hands of the enemy.
  5. Synonyms for save means to deliver carry on, bring through, keep, spare, rescue. reclaim, redeem. A savior is a person who redeems or aids in times of difficulty. Jesus delivers us or redeems us from the enemy, he rescues is and reclaim us for His kingdom and He will bring us through and He also aids us in times of difficulty.
  6. If a person was in trouble, the next of kin had to pay the price to set him free. It had to be a family member who had the means and was willing to do it, he must be free himself. In the NT Jesus was the Kinsman -Redeemer. He became man to be one of us - in Christ we are children of God.Jesus qualify now as a family member- He had the means and was willing to do it. He was the only sinless man who ever lived and he laid down his life willingly for us. How can we ever grasp how wide and how deep the love of God is for our sinners that He send his only Son -whom he loved- so that we can become his children. Jesus death on the cross was not cheap, he died because he thought we were worth it. People are willing to pay millions of dollars/euros for a piece of art - even though it is just paint on canvas - because they thought its worth all that money. How much more did God think we are worth to let His son die for us.]
  7. God showed His grace to us everyday by providing our needs abundantly. There is nothing in ourselves that deserves a house, a job, enough food to eat and all the other things we enjoy. He saved our souls and wrote our names in the Book of Life. What makes us better than the sinner on the street? Nothing, but the grace of God reached down and took us from the broad way to hell and put us on the way to heaven. Oh, what a great and mighty God we serve.
  8. God decided to send His Son as a living sacrifice for the sin of the world because He is a just God and Sin requires justice. He chose the Israelites as the nation from which Jesus would be born, they were a small and insignificant nation and He wanted the world to see that He is a Loving King and that He cared for them. They often turned away and followed other gods, but God always showed love and mercy towards them and forgave them when they repented. In their sacrifices the world should see that one day there would be the perfect sacrifice and when Jesus came, He declare the love of the Father and said that He is the lamb that would be slain. God's love never faltered and He kept His promise of a Redeemer so that not just the Jews, but anybody can get eternal life if they just accept Jesus.
  9. How can one trust somebody if that person is not faithful? You will always wonder if he is going to do the work or keep his word. God is faithful, it is part of His character. He cannot be unfaithful, even when we are faithless, he remains faithful. We can fully trust God that He will fulfill His promises and even our salvation is sure because He is faithful. We are God's representatives on earth and when we are faithful people see it and we give God honor in it. If we are faithful in even the little things, God will trust us with the bigger things as well.
  10. If God did not forgive the Israelites in the wilderness but act justly according to their offence, they would not survive. Moses prayed for them and God spared them because of His great Love and Mercy. God promised Abraham that his descendent's would live in the land and God could not break His promise, even though the Israelites constantly turn away form Him. God wanted to show His mercy and character through that nation and brought forth the Redeemer through them. Even though God protected and provided for them, they were not contrite and kept ******* over false gods. God's forgiveness is amazing because its free, we cannot earn it, we are all following the desires of our won hearts and not God's desire for our lives. We all stand guilty before God, and only because of His great love for us,Jesus paid our ransom so we can be justified. Jesus is our great high priest who continually intercedes for us, just as Moses intercedes for the Israelites.
  11. For me the Father is the head of the house who leads and makes the decisions. He cares and protects his family. If we think about God as our mother, we will lose the fact that He is the Head and Leader. I never think of God as a mother but I think He has the sensitivity and the protection and love and devotion that a mother have for her child, only more so because He is perfect.
  12. God chose Israel as the nation to show the world His grace and His love. Just as a man may chose a woman and betrothed her, God chose Israel, but they had to be faithful to Him. He would care for her. I think the Bible uses this metaphor- just as a marriage is holy- 2 people who are devoted to each other and love and care for each other, God wanted to show us how much He is devoted to His people and how much He cares for them. In the New Testament the Church is promised to be the bride of Christ, God's promise to His son. When 2 people marry, they promised to forsake all others and just be committed to each other. God is jealous because He does not want to share His bride with idols. He wants us to be committed to Him alone. If only we can realize that God is Love and is not going to harm us, but will care for us like the loving husband that He wants to be, we will be less prone to try and live our lives the way we want.
  13. The best way I can think of the Trinity is to think about an egg. The shell of the egg is different from the white or the yolk, but every part is still egg. The yolk of an egg is not less egg than the white or the shell. Jesus is God or part of the Godhead. He is not less God than the Father or more than the Holy Spirit. They consist as one "unit" in perfect love and harmony, yet as three distinctive "beings" No one can see God and live, yet Jesus came to the earth as a human being, the second Adam to reconcile us with God and one day we will also be able to see God and live in His presence forever
  14. I think that especially in the jewish culture the role of the father is one of respect, not necessarily of love. We see that in the parable of the prodigal son. The eldest son had respect for his father and did was was required, but he did not love his father or his brother. They also saw God as someone far off, in heaven, ready to judge. When Jesus told the disciples that God is Abba Father, He wanted them to realize that Gods wants to have that intimate and loving relationship with them (and us). In Christ we are now sons and daughters of the Living God and can also call Him Abba Father. What an incredible privilege
  15. The father as head of the household the father rules and deserves respect. God as our Father rules, He deserves all our respect, love and adoration. As His children we can put our trust completely in Him because He is a loving Father and He rules in Righteousness. The Father also guards and protects his family and he provides for them. God guards and protects us too, He also provides all our needs. Because our Father is the Almighty Holy God, who does not lie and who keeps His promises, we can put our trust in Him to guide, protect and provide for us. We should love Him and obey Him because He knows what we need. Just as a little child does not question his earthly father but look up to him, we also should trust in Our heavenly Faather who is so much more than what any earthly father can ever be.
  16. A spring or fountain always has fresh water, never stale or old. God is like a spring of water, His mercies are fresh every morning. The human body is 70 % made up of water- and God should be the Building Block of our lives. We need fresh water to live, contaminated water can make us ill. God is the Fresh water who heals us and sustains us. God is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. He will sustain me in the future just as He has in the past and is doing it in the present. Oh, may the Holy Spirit gives me a thirst after The Living Water, more and more each day.
  17. Sometimes I feel too insignificant or that my needs are to small to ask God to help and then I try to do it on my own. I think its also the way we are brought up- children are encourage to do their own thing and we then think we must first try to do it ourselves. I also think that we often don't trust God enough to ask for His help and guidance. I think we must learn to be 100% dependent on God, like the sheep. They don't ask or go their own way, they are quite willing to follow the shepherd wherever he leads. We must also trust God to help and lead us wherever He wants.
  18. There are many times in my life that God cared for me as a Shepherd, if fact He cares for me every day. In the beginning of the new year the future looks very dark with all the economy difficulties in the land and the world for that matter, when I look at the circumstances around me, its easy to be afraid like the sheep in the dark valleys, but then when I look up, I see the Shepherd with His Rod and His staff and I remember that He is the Good Shepherd and provider and that He will see us through. May that be a testimony for His name sake when the people who does not know Him, see how he provide for His children.
  19. I think that Abraham learn to trust God through his walk with God to know that God will keep His word. He told Abraham that his descendants will be like the stars and that he will have a son in his old age. When Isaac was born, he knew He could rely on God and trust God to either provide the sacrifice or to raise Isaac from the dead. He was willing to do whatever God asked and with that trust in mind, he could reassure Isaac that God will provide. I think when he laid Isaac on the altar, he must have told him not to worry, God will raise him up because he was the promised child. Otherwise I don't think that Isaac would be willing to be a sacrifice. He must also have seen the way that Abraham walked with God to trust his father that much. I have often received provision from God, always in time. God often test our trust. God will supply all our needs, not our greeds. He said so in His Word and we can trust him for that. God gives us so much more than what we need, we are so blessed, but we have to give thanks for everything and be willing to do His will and obey Him like Abraham did.
  20. For me it means that God keeps me safe, He protects me and watches over me. I think that God protects us from the enemy and one day we will see how many times the enemy really wanted to kill r destroy us and then we will also see the protection of our King. The Bible also said that He commands the angels to watch over us, what a wonderful privilege to be a child of the Almighty God and to know that not even a hair will fall off our heads without Him knowing
  21. I think that the rock that David referred to in the Psalms were the mountains where he used to hide and rest in times of battle with the enemy. He saw God also as a Rock where he could hide and know the God would protect him so that he would not be so visible to the enemy. A rock is big and solid, and steadfast. A rock in Palestine would probably be a hiding place against the enemy, they also used rocks to built altars. Jesus is the Rock of our salvation, the foundation, solid, unmovable and strong.
  22. God is a shield around us to protect us. A shield was either small or large to protect the body, and the bearer could hold it in front of him, but his back would still be unprotected. God is much more, He is a shield AROUND us- He protects us from all sides. Nothing that the enemy does or tries is hidden from God's eyes. God's glory is the light that surrounds Him and in the light there is no darkness, everything is out in the open. God protects us from the evil one. When we are tired and weary and when we look around us and became despondent, He is the lifter of our head- to look up to Him who has already concurred the enemy and that gives us the strength to fight again. We are in a battle But God is our shield and protector, we cannot win without His help and we must realize that the only victory is with God on our side
  23. We have to dwell with God. Metaphors:the shadow of the Almighty the shelter of the Most High My Refuge my Fortress and my shield If we trust God and dwell in Him, He will command His angels to protect and to guard us. If we call on Him, He will answer us and delivers us.
  24. By confessing Jesus is Lord, we not only declare that He is God, but also that He is our Master and King and that He deserves honor and glory. He is the Lord of Host and the King of Glory. If we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead we will be saved. Salvation is not in good works, but only through Jesus. Only Jesus, God himself, could be the perfect sacrifice, and by confessing and believing that He is God, we will be born again. By being born again into the family of God, we are now subjects of His kingdom and must submit ourselves fully to His will.
