  1. Peter tells us to stay away, and that those things are at war AGAINST us. It can help us remember that we serve God and His desires in our life should take priority.
  2. We should first of all rejoice in our selection! Then we should seek out ways to live according to our calling.
  3. We should be offering praise on a continual basis. Whether the situation is good or bad we should be praising God because He deserves it and that is what we were created to do; give Him glory.
  4. The mindset of a priest towards God is one of service, constantly looking for ways to serve and offer sacrifices. This inspires me to look for more ways I can serve the Lord and sacrifice my life for Him.
  5. Yes I have felt worthless before. This veres tells me that I am valuable to God; that I'm worth the death of His Son.
  6. I'm not sure. Maybe because they dont want to be held responsible for their actions. Or they dont want someone else they view as an "equal" to tell them what's right or wrong and how to live their lives. Because love is a two way street and if you reject His love why should he not judge you? Even after He has provided a way to escape the judgement because of His love. Also how fair would that be for those who gave their lives to and for Him to get the same treatment as those who didnt? Because Jesus took our judgement on Himself. It becomes another Gospel.
  7. As being set apart, and devoted to God. I'm holy in my devotion to God, but my character could use a lot of work. Right now my biggest struggle is patience and self control.
  8. We should be giving our undivided attention to the grace that will be revealed at His return. It should inspire those things because this grace and those promises are waiting for us as believers and we should be preparing for it now. When we dont expect Christ's immediate return we can get lazy and sloppy in our living.
  9. The basis of Christian joy is knowing and trusting Jesus for salvation. It can bring "happy tears", excitement, glee, etc; however, it is not essentially emotional. The pursuit of happiness is purely externa and based on what you can do for yourself. Joy is internal and based on what God has done for you.

  11. I would say they're more concerned with earthly things such as appearance, social status, etc. Yes I have caught myself doing this. For this to change we have to first pray and then change our viewpoint on how we look at life and the world from an earthly one to a Heavenly one.
