  1. What is Rebellion? Rebellion is basically doing what we decide to do rather than what God tells us to. All rebellion is against God. It is a demonstration of self will. It may not be a lifestyle however it may be a certain area of our lives which we refuse to give or surrender to God. In what way is rebellion as bad as witchcraft or occult practices? Witchcraft directly opens one up to the demonic realm.” (Bevere, 67) By rebelling against the order and laws of God and His delegated authority, they knowingly grant legal access to the controlling demonic realm” (Bevere, 68) What does rebellion have to do with arrogance? Arrogance is somewhat like the fuel which drives rebelliousness. We think we know better than God and we do things and make decisions based on our own understanding. When we really should be trusting in God and listening to His voice. What can we do when we find rebellion against God in our hearts? We should come to God. Fall at his feet and ask him to help us, acknowledge our wrong, pray for forgiveness/ repentance and wait upon him. What happens if we do nothing? Eventually we would lose our salvation. Rebelliousness will sneak up and grow and spread just like a cancerous cell.
  2. Q1. (2 Corinthians 1:21b-22) According to this verse, what does the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signify? How does the Spirit unite us with God? What is the promise of future blessing inherent in the Spirit’s presence? The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signifies the anointing upon our lives, us belonging to Him and us being separated to do God's will. The spirit unites us with God since it is the identifier that we belong to Christ. The promise of future blessing inherent in the Spirit’s presence is guaranteed eternal life.
  3. Q1. (2 Corinthians 1:21b-22) According to this verse, what does the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signify? How does the Spirit unite us with God? The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signifies the anointing upon our lives, us belonging to Him and us being separated to do God's will. The spirit unites us with God since it is the identifier that we belong to Christ. 4. Q3. (2 Corinthians 1:10-11) Why does Paul ask people to pray for him? How do the prayers of others have an effect? What happened in your life that has helped you enter into a ministry of intercessory prayer? Paul asked people to pray for him because he realized the power of prayer. Prayer has the ability to change things and to turn around situations.By joining in prayer , hearts, minds and faith become one.
  5. The presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives signifies that we belong to Christ. The Holy Spirit came to glorify Christ. Therefore, if we are filled with the Spirit, then we are abiding in Christ. By the Holy Spirit God can act on our behalf. The blessings of the Holy Spirit are: 1)We know who we are in Christ. We belong to Him. 2)Bing able to do his will and to be set apart for service. 3)To be identified with Christ. To be able to walk in the light as Christ is the light of the World. 4)Reward from Christ of eternal life.
  6. God is our comfort. Knowing that He can relate to everything that we go through on a daily basis makes it easier. There is someone who is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother and is always there for us. Whatever we may need or be going through He is there for us. He is our strength and our shield, our strong tower, our rock and our fortress. He is our Heavenly Father and He only wants what's best for us. God is continually molding us and shaping us into the kind of person He wants us to be.Each day we may undergo trials but they are there for us to build character. No matter what God is always there.
  7. According to verse 16 scriptures can function by teaching, rebuking, correcting and training. Scripture equips a christian for ministry by making us wise and by meditating on the scriptures we gain the faith to come to God.
  8. Inspiration of scripture, we mean that supernatural influence of the Holy Spirit on the Scripture writers which rendered their writings an accurate record of the revelation or which resulted in what they wrote actually being the Word of God." The term "God-breathed" tells us that the source and authority of Scripture is from God. He just used men in order to wrte the scripture. The doctrine of inspiration of Scripture is important since it is equipped with everything we need to live our daily lives and that we may strive unto perfection.
  9. Everyone, Pilate, soldiers, us, were responsible for killing Jesus, Because of our sins Christ was crucified. He knew no sin. Jesus was praying for us that our eyes would be opened and we would be saved.
  10. Failure to accept the inevitability of persecution hinder our witness because then we would become timid and we will be afraid to witness. To "take up his cross daily and to carry his cross" means:to give your whole life to God. It is a daily total sacrifice of self to do the will of Jesus. Yes Jesus is talking about persecution.
  11. It is so easy to become a hypocrite since many people wear masks. They portray themselves as one way to others, when on the inside they are missing the mark. We can prevent our faith from degenerating into "a form of religion" without the power by sticking to God's Word. By doing so, we will never fall away into a form of religion without power.
  12. 5 characteristics which enable a Christian teacher to correct opponents are: -kindness-must be pleasant, tenderhearted and always showing concern for others -skill-must possess the "know-how", the learned capacity to teach -lacking resentfulness-despite what others may do or how others may treat you; we ought to still treat them out of love and respect -humility-basically it involves showing respect for others. Not because we have the authority to correct others mean that we ought to be boastful and arrogant. -trusting God to work- we need God. We need his strength, we ought to depend upon him to work through us. These characteristics all go hand in hand. I f we lack any of these then we will be unable to reach others.
  13. We usually put our good plates and silverware on the table when there is some special occasion or special guest. Basically Paul is saying that we ought to be ready to be used by the Master and be prepared to do any good work. We cleanse ourselves by fleeing the evil desires of youth, and pursuing righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart."
  14. Soldiers must give up the comfort of their lives. An athlete must be well trained and disciplined. A farmer must work hard in planting and nurturing in order to get a harvest. The example which strongly speaks to me is that of a soldier.A soldier must be prepared at all times to fight a battle and must be disciplined enough to listen to the commanding officer.
  15. A skilled workman studies his craft, he works with great diligence and works to the very best of his ability. Similarly Timothy ought to study the Word with great diligence. "Study to show thyself approved." By doing this, and with the help of the Holy Spirit we would be able to share God's Word of truth. We would be able to minister to someone to the best of our ability.
  16. I think our churches tend not to declare the call to endurance and suffering since noone will be willing to go through any suffering at all. The mindset is if your serving and living for Christ then why do we have to go through that. Timothy tended to shy away from it because posssibly he was fearful. Willingness to suffer for the gospel results in us reigning with Him.In everything we do for the Lord, the Lord takes record and He will reward us. He is no man's debtor.
  17. It is important for pastors and church leaders to execute a strategy of mentoring teachers and elders in a congregation so that they will be able to teach others as well. I think that teaching of future leaders should be of top importance and priority.
  18. According to verse 12,the source of Paul's fearlessness is Christ. He trusts God to guard for him what he have entrusted to him for that day.
  19. Paul's focus on Christ and the gospel is designed to encourage Timothy by reassuring him that Christ is always there for us.He would never leave us nor forsake us. To create that motivation that Timothy requires. This is an antidote for shame since it allows us to understand that God is greater than us and it is He who hath saved us and not we ourselves. He hath given us added grace.
  20. When I recently got saved, I used to feel quite ashamed and afraid of doing things for the Lord. Actually I think I was more concerned about what people might say. I remember this one particular occasion where we were having a crusade. I was told to sing a song with other members of course. But I was really frightened because we were having the crusade basically in my village and well people knew me. Now they would know that I am a christian. However that is not the case now, I sing, dance and do things for the Lord in front of anyone. The antidote for cowardice and shame is to know whom I have believed. We combat the cowardice and shame we might recognize in ourselves by believing and trusting in Jesus, and realizing that He is able to guard what we have entrusted to him for that day.
  21. The advice I would give to a person who has let use of a spiritual gift or ministry lapse is that God has blessed them with such a unique gift and that they ought to use it for God's honour and Glory. I may even remind them about the parable of the talents. God gave the gift so that it can be used to build God's kingdom and with of course much practice and seeking God it will grow and multiply. A gift or ministry can be rekindled by the encouragement and support of others. Persistently seeking God, I think is the heart of reclaiming use of such gift.
  22. We can guard the faith by holdng on to the sure word that we have received, the Gospel, as taught by Christ and his apostles, and turn away from the quest to be hip and up-to-date with every philosophical or theological trend. Guards can be at the same time positive, loving, and pleasant to be around by basically sharing God's love.
  23. The best antidote for the love of money is to plant seeds, to bless other individuals and to support the church. We can cultivate generosity so that it remains healthy, rather than let it go overboard and hurt our families by: -Hope in God -Do good -Be rich in good deeds -Be generous. -Be willing to share
  24. Our love for money grows when our desire to acquire wealth becomes more intense, when we are not contented with what we have. We can escape this deceptive trap by not entertaining thesze thoughts. Phillipians 4:8-Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
