What device does Nathan employ get the king to listen to him? To get the King listen, Nathan employs a device of a story between a poor and a rich man. How does David's condemnation of the rich man's greed help him acknowledge and condemn his own actions? David saw his wrong doings in that story.
  3. Q2. (2 Samuel 11) How can a "man after God's own heart" do something so ugly, so despicable as this -- first adultery and then murder by proxy to cover it up? A man can do this through the work of the devil. **** is the product of devil and that is what makes David to do all these evil things. What does this teach us about our human condition? This teaches us that our human condition can control us and lead us to committing evil things. What is our problem as humans? Our problem as humans is that, we ae prone to sin. How can David ever recover his integrity after this? Maybe David can recover his integrity after this by publicly confessing his wrong doings.

A dynasty. 5. A son who will buid the Temple. 6. An everlasting Kingdom. Are these promises conditional or unconditional? From the scriptures, there are no conditions attached to these promises; they are unconditional. Why does conditionality make a difference? Conditionality makes a difference because it means that, before the promises are fulfilled, certain conditions should first be fulfilled. This can mean that, if a condition is not fulfilled the promised will also not be fulfilled. Which of these promises is most important to you as a Christian? To me as a Christian, the more important of these promises is an everlasting Kingdom.
  8. Q1. (2 Samuel 7:1-7) Why is Nathan so quick to give David approval to build the temple? Nathan was so quick to give David approval to build the temple because he was speaking in the flesh and not in the spirit. Nathan should have consulted the Lord to hear from Him whether what David was planning to do was proper and acceptable by Him. What is the danger of leaders and followers too quickly approving major spiritual directions without really waiting upon the Lord? The danger of leaders and followers too quickly approving major spiritual directions without really waiting upon the Lord is to have such directions disapproved by the Lord. Michal is so bitter at David I think because of loosing the status our being the first wife; she is now the seventh. And it seems the love she had to David before had faded. How does her bitterness cause her to misjudge what she sees? Her bitterness causes her to think David is trying to show his body to slave girls; not understanding that David was just praising the Lord. Are you bitter towards God about something in your past? No. What effect might it have on your spiritual life? Being bitter can make me fail to praise the Lord as required. How can you find healing from the bitterness? One can find healing from the bitterness by understanding that you are wrong and then asking God for forgiveness and direction. Does what others might think affect your ability to worship? Not real. How has God been working in your life to teach you to worship him in spirit and in truth? By following his word and keeping in prayers.
  11. Q2. (2 Samuel 6:11-13) How should the ark have been transported? The ark should have been transported by being carried by Levites only. How are Uzzah and David responsible if they don't know the provisions of the Mosaic Law? Though they don't know the provisons of the Mosaic Law, Uzzah and David are responsible because they did not inquire from the Lord how to transport the ark. David inquires of the Lord before he attacks the Philistine the first time in order to get the direction and approval of the Lord of what he intends to do. David does not act before consulting the Lord and getting approval of his intended action. What would have happened if he thought he knew how to attack the Philistines, and didn't inquire of the Lord the second time? Probably he would have lost the battle as the Philistines were ready for him as they thought he will attack them the same way he did the first time. Why do we often want to figure out the process so we can act independently, rather than wait on God as a way of life? Beacuse of our arrogance; thinking that we can do it and we do not need anybody. How would you evaluate David's patience concerning this prophecy that he would be king? I can evaluate by indicating that, David was really a God fearing person; he did not do anything just because he wanted it, but he will wait for a sign or go ahead from the Lord. He is not justified in doing so as in fact, is Joab's brother who impales himself on Abner's spear. How does this affect his king's unification plans? I think this does not affect his King's unification plans as the King publicly denounces any involvement in Abner's killing. Why do you think Joab is so blind? Joab is so blind because is filled with anger and the want to revenge. How can our spiritual blindness get in the way of God working out His plan in our lives? Our spiritual blindness can get in the way of God working out His plan in our lives by failing to concetrate on the facts and the importance of the plan. Instead we only see something bad.

Such practices might open Christians to victimisation and oppression by evil spiritis by making them obey the instructions of satan which are always against God. They harm the people spiritually. About Abigail's character, we learn that, she is wise and I think strong woman who can make decisions. By her wisdom and decision she managed to save the life of her husband and his people. Nabal's character? About Nabal's chanracter we learn that, he is lacking wisdom; he is full of pride. There was no reason at all for him to refuse to assist David with food. Instead, he insulted David while knowing how brave David is. Why do you think this story was included in 1 Samuel? I think the story was included to show how useful wise women can be and also to show the human nature in David;that despite being a man of God, he was ready to kill just by being insulted. The motive that David and his men have for killing a king who is trying to kill them is to get rid of a king who has passed a death sentence upon them. What is David's rationale for sparing Saul? David's rationale for sparing Saul is that, if he goes against Saul, he goes against the Lord who has installed him the king. What does this tell us about David's character? About David's character, this tells us that he is God fearing man. About his faith? About his faith, this tells us that, he has great faith in the Lord. What does it say about David's leadership ability that he is able to dissuade his men from killing Saul? David is a charismatic leader; with good leadership skills.

The risk that is there for David is the betrayal, maybe not by Jonathan himself, but by the soldiers of Saul who escorted Jonathan. What risk is there for Jonathan? The risk that is there for jonathan is being killed by David's soldiers who know exactly that their suffereing is caused by King Saul, Jonathan's father. What do you think it meant to David? To David, this visit meant alot. He was assured of his safety and support from Jonathan. All this restored to him courage which was engulfed by fear. Have you ever received a visit from a friend when you needed it most? Although I can't exactly remember such a visit, I can only figure out how important to receive it.
