  1. personally, i think of God's purpose for my life. He is not mere Creator who abandons us once out of the production...but gently sees us through with longsuffering, especially when we sin and doubt. i think of still-born babies or those born into adverse circumstances. Without experiencing God personally, it is easy to dismiss such occurences as hopeless situations; birth as a fluke of nature or purely man's desire. They all belong to God and to Him all will return....just hold the faith and love each other as we love Him
  2. the psamlist is overwhelmed by it..he couldn't imagine it..he couldn't stand it yet he likes it for it is the merciful loving God who is holding him...he is daring for stating so for the Jehovah of the Israelites is unapproachable. The psalmist demonstrates great faith in this. Yes, God puts so many good things in my life...and those times when i doubt whether they're from Him or not are heartbreaking, sinful times. I pray for the psalmist's faith to experience so vividly the embrace of God
  3. I'm so thankful for this question. It made me realise how and when i've tried to run away from God, and most importantly; why. Indeed, it is beacuse of my desire to sin, rebel against the Lord God i know to be holy. I will now read psalms 139 in a different light; in view of the irritation of the psalmist of God's presence which nags him uncomfortably.
  4. We must praise God, in good times or bad, all the time. In doing so, be convinced that its not a reality-denying exercise. On the contrary we are acknowledging the invisible, but firm hand of God in every circumstances, and His loving kindness, goodness and holy presence
  5. Our God is dynamic. That's why He came down to save us. In so, we should respond dynamically in our walk with Him. Put forth our petitions boldly and He will grant them. Gos talked with Moses ONLY face to face, as a friend; at that time. Now with Jesus, He calls ALL of us His friends. Yet we must realise that He is still the LORD God...remember to approach Him with a clean heart and submissive spirit, lest we die (ref Exodus)
  6. Moses prayer was an intercession towards God to direct His anger away. His Word tells us that that is what He is always willing to do...' to gather us like a hen gathers her chicks'..We must always appeal to our God for this...this is why Moses was praying in accordance to God's will.
  7. To answer these questions, one must conform to God's way thru the renewal of one's mind. Then having submitted to the Sovereignty and holiness of God, we can see that God's ways are good and just, ours are evil. Therefore, He can be angry and destructive towards us and be utterly justified. This becomes all the more clear when we see God as the Almighty Creator who knows every sinews in our bodies and the number of hairs on my heads. Then there is also the loving God who loves with a jealous passion and isn't indifferent to our sins and idolatry.
  8. when we ask for God's forgiveness, we remind ourselves that we are sinful. In the same token, when we receive God's forgiveness we remind ourselves to forgive others...for we are to be Christlike. If we harbour unforgiveness in our hearts...we tend to dwell into them and worship them like idols. That is unpleasing to God...how then can we be blessed? We attain eternal life solely because God forgives..and He does so freely...shouldn't this mercy fill our little cups that it overflows to others too?
  9. Indeed, it is the sin of pride...which so tortures my soul and hinder my walk with the Lord. To be independant of God is to exclude Him from me...yet i worship and ask that He minister unto me. How ironic! Our God is Creator, Father, Lover, Friend...not meant to be excluded in any aspect of our lives, much less in the very fundamental part of life's provision. I thank God for forgiving me those times i rely only on myself and take credit for what is rightly His gifts. My Provider is faithful when i stray, loving when i'm not lovable and providing whenever i'm in need.
  10. If we keep in our daily prayers the yearning for God's Kingdom to come, we inadvertendly escape from temptations to sin as we wait in pure longing for the coming of Jesus. I've always wandered why we ought to repeat this every day. Now I know that its not so we ought to remind God to come...but to remind ourselves to be ready for Him
  11. Actually, i'm quite confused with this question. When i was young and innocent(!) I prayed to God like I would talk to my dad. Its that simple. Then I was taught to approach the Almighty God in a different way...it was only then that i realise the Name of God can be blasphemed, abused, used in vain...etc.... A result of the Fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, perhaps?
  12. Q3. (19:26) After nearly being delivered, why did Lot's wife stop and gaze rather than escaping? What was in her heart? Can't really tell. There are thousand and one reasons. Have you ever struggled with this in your heart? Indeed. As a sinner saved from the murky depths it is a wonder why one would drift back..but i do. But thank God for His limitless mercies and his love which is new every morning What lesson does Jesus draw from Lot's wife in Luke 17:31-33? We have to stop playing the fool with God...for there will be a time when all Christians will be in Lot's wife's shoes.
  13. Why did Lot's daughters turn to incest? Immorality or desire to have children..can't really say. What does this tell us about their values? Should say they're pretty Sodomite then, that is, non-chalant in sexual matters About their faith? Don't know if they know the LORD God as Abraham did. Although He just rescued them from the inferno, they must still have some sort paganistic mindset that does not recognize a God that has control over all..the One True God Why does Lot turn to intoxication? What does this incident tell us about his faith? His hope? His influence? His choice of residence? What lessons should we learn from this story? He's a wordly man who's lost everything. A man far from God that he turns to alchohol for answers. We are reminded to keep ourselves pure and abstain from sin by getting far and away from them. FOr though as children of light, we should not put ourselves up near the darkness unneccessarily
  14. They hesistated probably becuz of a natural response towards leaving a habitat. That should not be our attitude for we must realize as God's children our habitat is in heaven. This place and everything that comes with it are just temporal. Yea, i have the feeling of longing to stay in my sinful self whenever temptation comes a-knocking. This leads me into sin once again and break my Saviour's heart. How i long for strength and divine interruption during those terrible times!
  15. Q1. (19:4-11) How can Christians keep balance on the issue of homosexuality in our day? Christians have no need to 'balance' the homosexual issue..our blatant response is a loud and resounding NO. it really possible to be loving and compassionate toward practicing homosexuals at the same time as you condemn the sin? Of course, just as Jesus was towards the woman accused of adultery. Should the church be silent about homosexuality? If not, what should we be saying? Where should we be saying it? NO!!it need to state its position clearly that the Word of God opposes this practice totally and we should be saying it whenever the issue demands of it, without fear or favour.
  16. On what ground does Abraham so boldly address God? He enjoys a personal relationship with God, and by his covenant knows that God does not see him as a sinner for he (Abraham) has received by faith the coming of Christ in his line. Do you think God desires us to do the same? Yes, that's the basis of our salvation where we can commune with God as his beloved creatures, placing our worries and burdens with Him Who knows all Why do you think Abraham's intercession pleased God? The way God patiently entertained his requests, one by one as a father unto a child. What will it take for us to please him in our prayers? We need to be discerning and not treat our God like a filing cabinet. Rather as the true Living God who has the universe in His hands. We need to approach Him in awe and humility and give Him the top priority in our lives and receive by faith His promises and look forward to His blessings
  17. It is as said, to be in the world but not of the world. Today we are bombarded by many useless distractions like TV, radio, etc...(with them also come along sinful temptations) which makes it difficult to keep the way of the LORD. These media in turn, can be used for God's purposes like in Bible study like this. The challenge here, just like in generations past, is to have a daily communion with God, and not fall from this.
  18. I'm not married so i'm not speaking from experience but i believe that in all aspects of life, the LORD will bless us and work everthing for our own good if we seek Him and put Him first in our lives.
  19. How can we tell if we really believe in God's present willingness to do miracles in our day? by mere observation at everything around us. A very good friend, someone i love dearly. told me once that even the movement of our little pinky finger is a miracle in itself and God is behind it. Often, we acquaint the supernatural to miracles (though God definitely is active everywhere) we recognize also that in even in the natural realm God is working most actively. Is there any indication in Scripture that God will stop doing miracles? nope, He loves us too much Is there any indication that God continues to do miracles? How can we regain an active faith in the God of miracles? Yes, we need to read the BIble and commune with Him everyday to know His will
  20. It is to signify that they are chosen by God for a very special purpose and have to be kept holy throughout the line for that purpose, that is the Lord Jesus. It is to remind the generations of this covenant God made with their ancestor and that they honor it too, with the Lord who does not change. It signifies his exemplary faith and obedience
  21. To circumcise my heart is to deny the sinful yearnings of the flesh, to set my body apart for God's purposes. This is necessity for anyone who is chose by God's divine will to be His people. We can keep out faith active as an inward expression of love by communicating daily with God, to learn his precepts and obey Him. Yes, I;ve so often taken His mercies for granted and live a disobedient life. It really makes me feel useless, like dust..and need God
  22. The circumcision was a sign of setting apart oneself for God's holy purposes. Apparently, humans fail terribly in that as demonstrated by the history of Israel. We are prone to rebellion against God, and like a dog returning to its own vomit, will return to sin despite circumcision. God, of course knows this. That's why he gave the sign of baptism where we actually 'die' to our old self and be resurrected with Christ and in Him we may gain eternal life.
  23. God knows we are not capable of moral perfection or perfection of any kind for that matter. He requires his faith...total dependance upon Him for sustenance and fulfilling of His promises. Tha same
  24. God wants me to be submissive to His will and plan and not my own ambitions and yearnings..no, not right..He wants me to fashion my ambitions and yearnings in accordance to His will and plan. And when i in rebellion chose my own path, He stills loves me but i will suffer the consequences of my unbelief. Also, i must see everyone as equal in God's sight...overlooking their apparent social standing....for God loves everyone..so must i. God is calling me to place my hope and trust in Him that He will provide for my future. Its' a hard thing to swallow for its humanly impossible to to comprehend how i can afford to carry on with such a huge financial burden (my course fees). Nevertheless...i will not turn away, and continue to be receptive to His voice in the desert.
  25. What is the significance of Hagar's name for God -- El Roi, the God Who Sees? What does it mean to a person who is discouraged and losing hope? What does it mean to you personally? Mant a times, i lose hope in myself and feel my faith sliding away...regardless of how my feeble feelings render me...El Roi, the God Who Sees will keep me in His arms...for i am His. So El Roi is a great comfort for he who is destitute and lonely...in a spiritual desert, it's a easy trudge when we know that there's One who sees us from above. To me, I must learn to keep whispering doubts under tab by the conviction that the God who sees is always here to protect me...it also means He sees whenever i sin; in my closet or otherwise. So i must always keep in personal touch in Him to walk in holiness and righteousness all the days of my life.
