  1. Why does James discourage people from aspiring to be teachers of the Word? Because it's very serious to be a teacher of the Word of God, and a great responsability to teach. Why does greater strictness appropriate? Because you must be sure your being lead by the Spirit and teaching the true Word of God not leading someone astray. Should you sat higher standards for your pastor than yourselfs? We ought to have stanards sat for ourselfs also, but leaders, teachers, pastors and such will be judged more harshly. Richard S.
  2. How does James' point about the necessity of works jive with Paul's emphasis on salvation by grace without works (Ephesians 2-8-10)? James faith without work's is dead, Paul's salvation thru faith should bring works. Richard S.
  3. Wha is the difference between the "belief" of a demon and the "belief" of a practicing Christian? The demon's shudder at the fact there's a God and we glory at the fact or should. The "belief" of a non-practticing Christian? Doesn't have a real belief, there works are not only dead, chances are they are too. Richard S.
  4. To what degree are we responsible for the poor and needy in the church community? We are to make sure that they have there needs meet and as we truly bless them in the name of Jesus, God will bless us in our lives. Truely this is what those that are considered or elected as decon's, there responsibility is for the familiy's of the church, for there need's and well being. If you've got five decon's and twenty families then each decon is responsible fir four families each, that's the true porpose of a decon, to boss or lead the pastor, but as the pastor, to be lead by the Spirit and word of almighty God. How about our responsibility for those outside the church, in the community at large? That's also very clear in God's word, Matthew chapter 25, when you've gave unto one of these you've also gave unto me.(Jesus). Jesus giving the two new commandments in John saying Love thy neighbor as thy self. Richard S.
  5. In what sense is faith dead if it is unaccompanied by action? Because God's word clearly states that faith without WORKS is dead. That's a problem with the church realm today, most church's are dead, you can get more action in a funeral home. In what sense might (if that were possible) it be alive? By showing action in our lives to see the things of God begin to develope. This is something God through His Holy Spirit , has been reveled to me , is that it takes 90% action from us too get re-action from God. Richard S. /
  6. Why does James refer to the Great Commandment as the "Royal Law"? Because love is one of the greatest showing forth of Christ in your life and in keeping the commandments of God. How is it more "royal " than the " Mosaic law " ? Because Christ has come not to destroy the law but has fulfilled the law. How does showing favoritism toward a rich person break the "Royal Law" towards that rich person? Because we esteem him above another and show favoritism toward him giving him honor rather than Christ, letting him believe he is better than those around him and he is loved more for what he has rather than what he is in love. How does it break the "Royal Law" in regard to a poor person? Because we are showing favoritism rather loving equally.
  7. In what way does favoritism make one a judge? Esteeming one above another, making one feel lower than he already feels, choosing things over spiritaul. How does favoritism make one a judge with "evil thoughts'? My wishing someone wouldn"t show up or go somewhere else or just stay away. Richard S.
  8. What kind of person or what kind of sinner do you tend to discrimminate against? I don't we are to pray for them to receive the gift of salvation, color, greed or walk of life they may be in. What kind of people are you (or your church) trying to make a good impression? I don't , I try to leave the imprression of Christ, to those I encounter. Richard S.
  9. Why does James make taming the tongue and caring for the poor the prime tests of pure religion? That is one of our true priorty as being a christian, and our walk with Christ. Why not the quality of our quiet time or worship? Because having pure (christinity) religion brings quality to our quiet time or worship. Richard S.
  10. What is the "perfect law" that James mentions? The law of liberty that we have through the Spirit of God, where th Spirit of the Lord is there's liberity. How would you define it? Having the peace of God with the love of God in our hearts, that we may even love those that don't love us. How does it relate to the "royal law"? To have the "perfect law" into operation, you must and will be in the maturity of the word of God causing the "royal law" to begin to coming forth from your life, to love thy neighbor as thy self. In what sense does it bring liberity? Where you freely give it will be given. Richard S.
  11. Why are we so easily fooled into thinking that listening to Bible teaching means that we are living out righteous lifes? We should not only listen but also the word says to study to show ours selfs approved unto God, also faith without works is dead. We must not only talk the talk but also walk the talk. What is the nature of the self-deception? We continue to walk after the flesh istead of the Spirit. Richard S.
  12. In what sense are we given spiritual birth by the word of truth? Because we are choosen , a choosen generation, bought by a price, the blood of Jesus. What does spiritual life have to do with the word? The word was, the word is, and the word will always be, and the word is Jesus. Richard S.
  13. What is the promise to claim in v.5? Wisdom, if any lacks wisdom let him ask. What is the condition attached to this promise in v. 6? Believe and not doubt, doubt brings unbelief and unbelief brings doubt, this is contray to God's word, have faith believing. How do trials help us recieve this wisdom? By putting us into a place to ask God for the wisdom and knowledge to get us through. Richard S.
  14. How do trials help cure us of doublemindedness ? By realizing the total dependence we need in God totally, not just now or then, or at a sign of trouble. How do trials help us grow in faith ? They can actually be allowed by God, to help us grow in our faith toward God. Building our faith , Knowing God has everything in his hand's. and truely standing on the promises and the word of God. Richard S.
  15. Trails have helped me to realize how much I need to depend on God in my everyday life. In reality they seem to and occur to be apart of our daily life at times, and having the peace of God, and by faith in Him (God), and His word, God will be there with us and help us through these trials and that gives us the joy that we should count, just knowing that. Sometimes Satan can bring discouragement if we allow him to. My true need of God in my life everyday and every moment of that day. Having more faith in God, and making me stronger in my christian walk. Richard S.
