  1. Peter tells us to 1. be aware that the devil does exist and is dangerous and cunning. 2. Be disciplined in our faith 3. Resist the devil at all times 4. Be alert so that you can recognise the devil's wiles 5. Remember that Satan can be overcome, he is not invincible. 6. As a Christian be prepared to suffer persecution, yet be victorious through faith and prayer. Extra: The instructions are similar yet different from Paul's. Paul also tells us that our enemy is not flesh and blood and we must be aware of him. Further he gives us specific tools with which to arm and gird ourselves -- the helmet of salvation through Jesus Christ, the belt of Truth, abide in Jesus, He is the Truth; the shoes of the Gospel of Peace, the Goodnews of Christ that brings peace; the shield of faith, our belief in Jesus to which we must be steadfast; the sword, the word of God which can destroy the enemy and which we must use at all times as we remain in constant prayer. Paul tells us in a more straight forward way what must be done to overcome the enemy whom we must face because there is no covering for our back. We cannot turn and run; satan is to be faced and defeated.
  2. Wow! Isn't it wonderful that God cares for us as individuals so much that we are told to throw all our cares or burdens on Him. That each one can go to Him in prayer and simply unload and He picks it up and also carries us as He replaces our burdens with hope and love. I think of the personal way Jesus dealt with Thomas after His resurrection when He deliberately came again so that Thomas can see, touch and believe. No wonder Thomas shouted, "My Lord and My God." He is indeed Jehovah Elohay, our personal God. To Him be all praise. I certainly put my trust in Him and put away worry and fear.
  3. Quite true most Christians see God as the giver, but as His 'priests' we must be worshippers. The kind He looks for who worships in spirit and in truth. As a true worshipper you must forget self and focus all your attention on God. Become the 'living sacrifice' Paul talks about in Romans 12:1,2.
