Gideon was an influential man to the people. With his faithfulness through out battle, they were able to conquer their enemy. Gideon was obedient therefore so were the people. Even when Gideon became puffed up they followed orders because of his position. Gideon had the influence to the extent that when he made this image out of the gold and set it up in ophrah the people did what he did "played harlot" and when he died the people forgot what the Lord had done. they had peace for 40 years dispite of the ups and downs gideon faced.

Spiritual unfaithfulness was looked at as prostitution or adultery is The Body of Christ is refered as "bride" and if you understand that you see why the scripture reads" they played harlot with..." The concept of God's relationship to his people is similar to a bride to its groom. Personal, Intimate & Faithful. To make an image out of gold in our case things of this present world takes away that personal intimate faithful love and God being a jealous God will "divorce" you out of the relationship.(Punish you- not that you are not HIS child). Giving More time To Things of this world, for example jobs cars houses etc are just some of the spiritual adultery that we face. Yet, my GOd is so personal intimate and faithful HE IS ALWAYS THERE !!

A snare is a trap. He set his family and the people up for a "trap" they were misdirected into worshipping this idol and forgetting what God had allowed Gideon achieve. Gideon cut his life short and the favor on his family by making that decision. Even if we do not see sin for what it is God will let us be ignorant of it for a little while but eventually u will see the failure in your sin and he is so loving he provides a way out even while you are sinning. So even if you aren't aware it is still sin. The essence of the sin was they are woshipping idols. Serving a God that isn't the TRUE GOD ALMIGHTY Gideon's sin was making a golden image

An ephod in this text may have been a priestly garment made of the gold Gideon received from the people and what he took from the leaders he killed. It probaly looked like a statue. The image was too heavy to be worn so it was set up on something.

He asked for earrings from each of them. Taking money wasn't wrong but making an ephod was the sin. the sin began when they set it up in the city and played harlot there in Ophrah.

Gideon did not want to be ruler over the Isrealites because not only will that be treason,but that is trying to steal glory from GOD and that's worse than treason. It would have been like committing treason because you are betraying Our Lord & Savior by saying "I Did This & That ,giving credit to your self ¬ GOD. To their ignorance, they felt it was the norm to appoint him because he led them physically through battle, but IT WAS GOD ALL THE TIME .....PRAISE THE LORD!!

gideon slays Zebah & Zalmunna because they killed his brothers. In his day he would have been fulfilling his just obligation but in God's eye we are subject to the law, we are obligated to love our enemies. Iwrote this saying in the last forum but I once heard someone say "don't worry about your enemies God can get them far better than you can" And Our Father has ALL POWER so there is no need for me to waste my energy doing what GOD CAN DO !! PRAISE THE LORD!!

both the people of Succoth and Peniel refused to give food to Gideon's troops for fear that the Midianites will retaliate for giving aide. Gideon's reason for punishing these people was because they did not render aide. The people of Succoth & Peniel committed sin not because of gideon but they broke the covenant with God and the people. In that time i feel he was just because by them refusing aide thinking they were harming Gideon & his troops God allowed such punishment to take place because of their violation of his covenant.(God can get you far better than we can!smile) A situation that may apply to us today may be passing by needy person or turning people away when asking for aide(money transportaion shelter etc.)We are similar to the people of Succoth & Peniel

He must complete the task or for future reference it may come on future generations. That is why he must finish the remaining 15,000 in karkor. The problem with doing God's will half-way, first of all thats not what god wants so you can make our father angry with disobedience. Like parents today) also, you jepardize your sucess by half doing as i said before, it can come back to bite you. gideon asked for their help in cutting off the remaining Midianites. They were angry because the weren't called in the beginning to battle. They wanted the reward from the defeat &their name be glorified for participating. The lesson is never become arrogant when God's work is being done . Remain humble thankful and let positve words pass your mouth when faced with arrogance. Praise The Lord!!!

Gideon divied the army to surround the camp to appear larger than they were --to confuse the midianites. The jars and trumpets &torches were another tactic to throw the enemy off. The jars were to break & disturb the enemy the torches were hid until the right time & the trumpets blew to make it seem as if they were surrounded by a large army. This strategy was sucessful first of all because the Spirit of the lord was with Gideon, but it was successful because the enemy was distracted & confused in the night so they began to kill one another. They fled, but they were captured & destroyed.

Good morning To All!! To answer the question the significance from "lappers" and "knealers" i believe that choosing the lappers, they were alert and aware of surroundings and better equipped to jump and leave if called suddenly. knealers werenot as ready.

I Think We demand they make sense first because we are crazy (lol) or because we lack confidence in GOD. It souldn't make sense if it made sense it is of this world and is carnal. I believe God allows signs to give you that strength in HIM but never demand a sign in order for us to get moving...no way. The danger in demanding signs before we move is that we place ourselves over GOD's Will and here you find yourself out of GOD's presence and into trouble. Remember GOD didn't have to choose you so humble yourself and submit and you will see victory and not defeat no matter what it looks like!! PRAY PRAY PRAY!!! That God remove that doubt and bring you to blind obedience and get with people who believe and will help you walk how god ordained and pray as well!!

God said the army was too big because he knew if they were to fight with the current number they would later boast that they defeated them with out the direction of the Lord. God knew that with the small number would restore their faith to HIM not in their own understanding. He would feel the pressure of making GOD angry, the pressure of leading an army to defeat instead of victory if he were to obey GOD. And like many of us he had the pressure of his peers and what they might say or think of him. Gideon was able to obey GOD fully with out the doubt of what was facing him was FAITH & BeING OBEDIENT eve when the odds look out of your favor. He saw no gain going opposite of GOD so all TRUST WAS IN GOD & That's The GOOD Thing!!

I Thank THe Lord FOr This Day!! I Believe That GOD WILL NOT SHOW A SIGN TO PROVE HE EXSIST....WE WOULD NOT NEED FAITH!! From What I read, I think that god will give signs or confirmations with a sign to strengthen your faith or to call you to full faith so that what he needs you to do can be done. We in our flesh may come up with excuses or allow our faith to wither when the task seems overwhelming.

I Thank The lord For Being Here This Morning!!!! Hi TO All!! Gideon was looking for divine assurance that this is really God's will. He is similar to us today, we often mix our desires and "will" with GOD. AND THAT CAN'T BE!! He just wanted to make sure this is GOD's will!! God allowed it here and I believe you can ask for assurance not test GOD . I believe it is a sign that he acknowledges GOD's power and wants to be in toal favor with GOD. He is just the instrument, meaning that with out GOD using him he will be useless with what he was called to do. I don't think he was testing GOD rather he was unsure of his abilities and faith in GOD for him to be used for this task. The difference between sinful testing and what gideon did here in the text is that the sinful testing is asking GOD ALMIGHTY to PROV E himself (NO WAY) and what gideon is saying here is that I know you are ALL POWERFUL ! AFFIRM TO MAKE MY FAITH FULL SO THAT YOUR WILL MAY BE CARRIED OUT THE WAY YOU WANT IT ! NOT BY MY WILL, BUT YOURS LORD!!

Even if we make our bed in hell god is still god. To answer the questions The Spirit of The Lord came upon Gideon is the reason the trumpet blew and called people to arms. The Spirit of the Lord is powerful enough to make us do things that may seem unoridinary. The answer to the next question I THANK THE LORD FOR!!! GOD IS IN CONTROL!!! PRAISE THE LORD!! In each of the scriptures given GOD has HIS POWER direct & guide in each situation. I Thank GOD that HIS POWER IS SO AWESOME that we see VICTORY every time we allow HIM to CONTROL IT ALL !! Oooh.. you presented a question here to day Praise the Lord!! I believe that there are diobedient disciples among us today! Me, being one. Our sinful nature and old heart decieves us into believing if you sin that it will always be held aginst you. but our GOD says if we confess he will forgive. So it is all about reconciling your self back to GOd once you find a way out of disobedience. Now you CANNOT be a habitual disobedient disciple because GOD will only wink for so long. But GOD is merciful enough and understands we are not perfect but our job is to move faith by faith in Him that the disobedience turns to obedience. Its our choice ...gideon chose...what's yours?? Thought to ponder:(Romans1:16-19)

Praise The Lord for my early morning rising!! Yes, it is true that we should honor our father and mother. In Gideon's case it was honor God or your father(earthly). Sometimes, God would use us that will call us to make a decision, obey GOD or man, and YOU MUST CHOOSE GOD ABOVE ALL THINGS!! Matthew 10:37 calls us to be like Gideon was in the text to choose GOD over man. Or else we are not worthy of GOD

Gideon obeyed GOD and tore down the altar of Baal and the pole so the people could return to the one true god not idols. Gideon knew there were dangerous risks involved. Gideon had a fear of what his father might say/do and the people would be furious and persecute him and his family. The other side to that is if he were to do it at night no one would tie him to it so he thought. Yet he obeyed GOD. The postive thing he did in their place was created an altar to the LORD and sacrificed an animal seven year old to give to the LORD. In my opinion, gideon showed weakness by deciding to go by night to handle GOd's business yet, at the same time he thought he was protecting himself against his father and against the town people. Human are prone to do such rationalizing. I Thank GOD that even when we are weak in the flesh, GOD gives us a portion of his strength for his plan to work out any way.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! IVe been responding to questions this week and i feel blessed and renewed. Ihope you had good feelings after this Bible Study. GOD saw Gideon like he sees alot of us today as a "Mighty Warrior". Of Course, Gideon responded like many of us have ".......Least in my family". (6:15). GOD's is the most accurate because he is our creator and how he sees us is more important than our perception of ourself is. We as saved and unsaved aught not rely on our perception because it will stop you from living how GOD wants, our perception is only negative so our preception will stop us from talking / witnessing to others. Basically, I said that to say TRUST IN NO MAN when it comes to how you see yourself or how others percieve you. !!!! TRUST IN HOW GOD SEES YOU AND YOU CAN BECOME THE MIGHTY WARRIOR GOD SPEAKS ABOUT IN JUDGES!!!!!

Gideon like many of us, get low spiritually, or going through the storm and can't see GOD's purpose so we blame GOD for the troubles. His assesment was not accurate because like us christians today we get down on faith and think it's GOD's who is suppose to fill you (give you what you ask) when you have been disobedient. His Word provides comfort and knowledge in every aspect of our lives. So when we get down don't be unfaithful, get more faith!!!

The reason they were in their oppressed state was because they disobeyed the 2nd Commandment "....no other god...." We as Christians can familiarize with this because we may not have an "image" carved or other wise but we have things we make our gods and idols (cars houses children husbands etc.) Our Father is a jealous GOD and putting an image of any kind is enough to displease GOD and fall out of fellowship with HIM. SO for all who read, I pray that whatever you have put before GOD and serving HIM - remove it.

GOd saw Gideon as a mighty warrior. Gideon saw himself as "the least in my family". God's self-perception is the most accurate. Praise GOD!!! Our own self- perception is deceitful and wicked. The majority of the time we are able to see all the negative within us even on the outside (ie: height,weight, facial features etc). But I am humbled and blessed to know my self- perception doesn't matter when it comes to GOD. He used the least of them to bring out the best in HIM. And I am one of the least of them, but I Thank My Father in Heaven he sees different. People who don't know this truth are deceived and therefore are prevented from becoming what GOD made us to be.
