  1. In our character we can display God's saving work in our lives. And quoting verse 10 of chapter 1 of second Peter from New Living Translation "Work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Doing this, you will never stumble or fall away". We can prove to the world that truly we are saved or rescued by God in our character or in our action. What Biblical assurance of salvation can you offer the fruitless, barren "believer"? 2 Peter 1:9 "But those who fail to develop these virtues are blind or, at least, very shortsighted. They have already forgotten that God has cleansed them from their old life of sin." (NLT)
  2. Agape love is the hardest thing to do because it is unconditional and it takes a lot of sacrifice to have that kind of love. That is the love that Jesus gave us, He gave even His own life for us. If we do not love our brothers and sisters we deceive ourselves, because godliness leads to love for other christians and in loving them we will grow fully in Christ.
  3. Devotion is very important because in here you will meet God face to face. It is in devotion where you will grow intimately in Him. How can we know God better if we don't have time for Him. My discipline is that i wake up early, go to my office around 6am. No one is in the office by this time there i do my devotion: praying, reading his word, read some books that will help me know his word better. If not in the office I go to a nearby coffee shop and there I do my devotion, i always keep a journal and take note of the scripture that i read or the scripture that impacts me and as i study it in context i write the lesson i learned from that specific text or verse.
  4. No easy virtues. It will all start with Faith, now that God gave me Faith i have to add moral excellence to my faith, I am still checking myself if I have this virtue, once I know that i already have this virtue I know it will lead me in knowing God better and by knowing God better it will create self-control, After self-control I will have patience and then patience will lead me to godliness. To be honest Knowing God is difficult because I know it is not just "knowing" him, but intimately knowing him. And I have struggle with patience, now i now where to start with, i need to know God better so it will produce self-control, once i have self-control i will have patience.
  5. If we let evil desires to take over in ourlives it will take out the fire in us and we will become cold to godly things and we will begin to focus on the wrong things or material things. What strong desires can build our faith? The desire in knowing God better and better. As we come to know God better and better we will become intimate with Him and we will start to focus on his words and promises. Instead of gratifying our evil desires we should focus on God's promises.
  6. I am overwhelmed and thankful that God has called me to receive his own glory and goodness. It greatly affects my life today because I know who called me to live a godly life and i should make every effort to add to my faith moral excellence. The one who called me has moral excellence and i should follow his footstep.
  7. The scope pertains in living a godly life, because Peter said that as we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. As we come to know Jesus we have HIS divine power to overcome sin in our lives. Knowing Jesus here means knowing him intimately as what the greek word "GINOSKO" means. GINOSKO means intimately knowing your partner. As we come to know God it will lead to self-control. Self-control will lead to patience endurance. Patience endurance will lead to godliness.
  8. I believe yes, we share the same faith with St. Peter. The faith he mentioned is the faith that Jesus gave to us.
  9. Hello my name is Erwin and I am from the Philippines. 31 years old and eagerly want to study the word of God in its context. I am married and i have a daughter.
