I can understand Gideons point of view, because he wondered how can people suffer if God is with them. We sometimes blame God because we know he could stop the suffering in a wink of an eye if he wanted to, and yet sometimes he doesnt. What i have learnt is that God is soverign meaning he has complete power and authority and can do what ever he chooses. Because God is with us does not mean that we will not suffer persecution or hardship, but romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for good to them that love God. No matter what the circumstances, we must always remember, God is In Control
