  1. Q2 How did Abrham demonstrate his humility before God? Why must boldness be tempered with humility? Abrham answered, Behold now, I am but dust and ashes have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord. He was not afriaid to come to the Lord with boldness, even though he was nothing but dust and ashes. God showed Abraham that asking ofr anything is allowed, with the understanding that God's answeres come from God's perspective. They are not always in harmony with our expectations, for he knows the whole story. We should come boldly to God and expect with grace and humility he will answer in the way according to God's will not ours.
  2. Q1 What is the basis of Abraham's argument that God should spare Sodom? How does this relate to God's character? God gave a fair test to the men of Sodom. He was not ignorant of all the widked things going on, but is his fairness and long-suffering, gave the people of Sodom one last chance to turn to him. Abraham didn't change God's mind, but God changed Abraham's mind. Abraham knew God must punish sin. But he may have wondered about God's mercy. Abraham seemed to be probing God's mind to see how merciful he realy was. He left his conversation with God convinced that God is both Kind and fair. God's fairness and long-suffering, gave the people of Sodom one last chance to turn to him. God is still waiting with the hope that all people will turn to him, before his patience wears out. God is a just and fair God. Even the most godly people derve his justice toward us as he did toward Sodom. God showed Abraham that asking for anything is allowed, with the understanding that God's answers come from God's perspective, not ours. Even Godly people deserve his justice. We should be glad that God doesn't direct his justice toward us as he did toward Sodom. God is a just God, and His mercy's endure forever.
  3. If we are in the center of God's will for our lives, and we are praying accordingly to His will for answered prayer, then we know God will answer our prayers. When Moses interceded for the people, God "changed" in order to act consistently with his mercy. God had often told the people that if they changed their ways he would not condem them. They changed changed and God did as he promised. "Prayer Changes Things"
  4. Q2 What aspects of Moses' prayer of intercession should we emulate in our own prayers? Upon what logical grounds does Moses offer this bold appeal to God? What do you think it means to pray the promises of God? How does knowing the Bible help you get your prayers answered? How does this help our prayers be within God's will? They didn't deserve it, but Moses pleaded for his people because he was concerned about God's reputation among unbelievers. Think of the reputation you give God by your life. What your friends and neighbors think about God is more impaortant than what they think of you. Moses pleaded with God, asking him to forgive his people. His please revels severral characteristics of God. 1. God is imensely patient: 2. God's love is one thing we can always count on. God fogives us again and again, He is merciful listening to and answering our request. Like Moses, we can rely on God's love, patience, forgivness and mercy, How does knowing the Bible help you get your prayers answered? How does this help our prayers be within God's will? Every call of God to his people is a call to those in whom He delights. Therefore, we should know, no difficulty need daunt us. We are called to prayer and meet God in our own strenght. He will be with us in our path of obedience to prayer.
  5. Q4 Why should we continually ask forgiveness? We need to continually ask forgivenesss because when we sin we need to go to our Father and repent and move forward in an act of obedience. When we sin, we are only human, and when God see's our heart and knows we have come to him for frgiveness, he sees a willing heart to move on from our mistakes.
  6. The Phrase. "We ask that you Kindom will come now" is a reference to God's spirtual reign. God's Kingdom was announced in the covenant with Abraham (8:11: Luke 13:28) is present in Christ reign in Believers hearts, and will be complete what all evil is destroyed and he establishes the new heaven and earth. We are to let God reign not only here on earth but in our hearts, and daily go to him in prayer that "His will" will be done not only here on earth but in our lives.
