  1. Q1. In what way do our prayers of praise "bless" God? Prayers of praise move from an earthly focus to a heaven centered focus. Our prayers of praise point to God
  2. Q3. Is it possible to have a pure heart? How does God bring about a pure heart? What is our part in this? When we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior God gives us a new heart, but we, like David have a need to acknowledge sin in our lives.
  3. Q2. In his prayer does David seek to minimize his sins? To maximize them? David acknowledges all his sins. He doesn
  4. Q1. In what way does a prayer for pardon require faith? David knew God. He had a personal relationship with Him; He knew Him as a God of mercy who had the power to show favor to those who needed deliverance from the filthiness of sin. He knew that He had unfailing love, and great compassion. David
  5. Q4. In what way does Abraham show persistence? Abraham asked of God until he felt at peace with his request. He started asking about fifty people, and then, evidently he didn
  6. Q2. How did Abraham demonstrate his humility before God? He demonstrated his humility by the way he approached God. He approached Him with reverence. He recognized God as righteous, and just, and holy. Because he knew his place (dust and ashes) he didn
  7. Q4. Why should we continually ask forgiveness? First, it
  8. -Q3. Why do we seek to be independent of asking anyone for help? It is humbling to say I have a need. We think it brings us down a notch. We have to decend from our throne. Asking for help strips away what is false and shows us as we are, in need. We desire that everyone look at our strengths, not our weaknesses. Pride! -Why do we seek to be independent of God? We seek to be independent of God because we don't know Him intimately. -Why should we ask God to "give" us daily bread so long as we can earn a living for ourselves? The main reason we ask God to "give" us daily bread is because it's an act of obedience, and He is our Enabler, and He is our Provider. There would be no living to earn without Him.
  9. Q2. In what sense are we asking that the Father's kingdom should come? -Wow, in praying "Thy kingdom come," I'm asking for God to perfect Himself in me. The next question I have to ask myself is "Am I ready for God's perfecting....Am I ready to change?" How would I respond if I had gone through Katrina? Would people see Christ in me? There should be an urgency, too, in praying this knowing that we're praying for the soon return of Christ. Why are we asking for the Father's will to be done here on earth? We're asking this so that the whole world would see the Father. How should this prayer affect our living? The Scripture says, "He must increase, and I must decrease." In praying this I think those around me should see less of me and more of the Father.
  10. What about our lives and words "hallows" the name of our Father? As a Christian I bear the name of Christ. I'm to reflect Him in all that I do. I "hallow" His name as I give others a glimpse, a fragance of Him. What desecrates and besmirches it? Sometimes, by word, actions and re-actions Christian's stink; they reveal to the world their selfishness and unloving spirit, and that is a descration of the holiness of the Father's name. How should we "hallow" the Father when we begin to pray? The more we come to know our Father the more we will see and understand Him as holy. I hallow His name when I pray by recognising, and maybe even, thinking and reciting verbally, who He is, and also, in seeing my own lowliness in relation to His holiness.
