  1. Q3. Is it possible to have a pure heart? How does God bring about a pure heart? What is our part in this? Yes, throught the blood of Jesus. Our part is to believe.
  2. Q3. Do you think Abraham's boldness pleased God? Why or why not? What might cause God to take delight in your prayers to him? Yes, it did because it meant Abraham kew and trusted Him. The same attitude that Abraham and Moses had.......recognizing His power, ability, and desire to answer as a father would if he could.
  3. Q2. How did Abraham demonstrate his humility before God? Why must boldness be tempered with humility? By acknowledging his nothing position and God's Creator-all-powerful one. God has told us to approach with boldness, but we acknowledge our position and ability to approach is only due to His graciousness because of Jesus' death and substitionary work on our behalf.
  4. Q1. What is the basis of Abraham's argument that God should spare Sodom? How does it relate to God's character? God's character which is rightous and just. A "just" God would not destroy the righteous with the wicked.
  5. Q4. How can prayer change God's mind without conflicting with the doctrine of the Immutability of God? As long as we pray something that is his will it won't conflict with his Immutability. Can God answer a prayer for something outside of the scope of his will? Well, yes and no. In the OT we are told God answered their request BUT sent leaness to their souls. The no answer comes in if the prayer is against his Word or character. So I guess that would end being a "No", huh?
  6. *What aspects of Moses' prayer of intercession should we emulate in our own prayers? Upon what logical grounds does Moses offer this bold appeal to God? What do you think it means to "pray the promises of God"? How does knowing the Bible help you get your prayers answered? How does this help our prayers be within God's will? We should emulate all aspects of it; that's why God included it in the Scriptures. Moses pointed out to God his character and reputation were at stake. Praying the promises of God is praying to God, using Scripture as our reason why our requests should be answered since they are in his will. If we are quoting his word back to him, it has to be his will, doesn't it? If quoted back in the right context, of course.
  7. A wrong understanding would cause us to believe it didn't matter what we prayed....God has predetermined everything, so why bother? If you believe your prayers make no difference, it's predestination. I also call it wrong. The Bible records many prayers that "changed" God's mind.
  8. God was angry because his people ( like us, too often) decided to make their own god. He was the one who had brought them up out of Egypt, not some god made from their jewelry!! He could be angy about this, just as loving parents can be deservedly angy at their children......Of course, his anger was justified...his children were denying him and his power and protection and love for them.
