  1. A. The people have committed an act of spiritual adultery; they have broken the vows they made to God to b3e obedient to His covenant. They have been unfaithful by turning to another god, an idol. They have betrayed God B. Righteous indignation - God was right to be angry with a people who He has delivered from bondage and yet they not long removed from it , return to the familiar practices of those who enslaved them C. God would have been fair/just in destroying Israel and fulfilling His promise to Abraham, Isaac and Israel through Moses. The people had been given a detailed warning of the judgments that would befall them if they disobeyed the covenant they agreed to.
  2. Because as the bible so truly lets us know as long as we dwell in this flesh the sin nature dwells in us, therefore, we daily are tempted to sin by thought, word or deed, and for that reason we need to ask for forgiveness daily. Also, offenses are often perpetual; the image of the offense continues to surface in our minds (mainly, because the guilty party is a familiar person who we are around regularly or have frequent reminders of); and because we have not come to live out the Word as found in II Cor. 10:45, casting down imaginations .....that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. "As we forgive others," Jesus was careful to make it clear to us that only as we forgive, ae we forgiven. If we fail to bless others when we have opportunity, because of some unforgiveness we're holding on to then we are blocking the principle of blessing and being blessed. Jesus told us in Matt. 6:14-15 that God would not forgive us our sins if we do not forgive others their sins. Jesus can not lie; if He said it it is so.
  3. A. Pride causes us to want total independence B. Pride, ignorance and rebellion; 1st when we don't know God as creator of life and we have not come to the knowledge that all things come for God through His Word Jesus Christ; and all that we are or ever will be and all that we have or ever can have comes from God; even all that we don't want is in His control. 2nd when we refuse instruction and correction, because of pride (not wanting to except that without abiding in Jesus we are really nothing, rather we want to beleive that we are operating in our own strength) and rebellion (not realizing that we are allowing a seducing spirit to take credit for what God is doing in our lives, because of what Jesus did when He went to the cross. C. We need the blessings; guidance, direction, protection from seen and unseen dangers, grace to overcome temptations all the things that only a all knowing, all seeing, all powerful, all loving, all merciful all, all, all; everything; I AM Father only can give.
  4. We are asking that the Father's kingdom come in at least two senses. One present: that the Father's Kingdom will come in and through us, that we will be the light and salt of the world, true disciples of Christ that make disciples of others; even to the ends of the world. Second sense is future; after we have fulfilled the great commission; we want Jesus to return to rapture the Church, but I believe as a discipler of Christ we must have the heart of God, "Not wishing that any should perish," to that end, even when we would desire a speedy return of Christ, we desire more that the Kingdom of God be fulfilled in us to the point of giving our all to winning souls for the Kingdom of God. If God's will is done in us, then we would be about our father business winning souls, and all of God's children could be freed from the bondage of this flesh and the world. God is in control of heaven and when Jesus returns He will be in control of earth as well. When Jesus returns to reign over the earth God's will will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This prayer should drive us to strive to be more like Jesus everyday.
  5. A proper approach (awe- revering fear) and the way in which we address (Father- Daddy; like a trusting honoring little child) our heavenly Father "hallows" His name. When we use the Father's name to express our disgust or displeasure at something or someone and/or approach and address the Father as if we would any human of any relation (For His ways are so above and beyond ours that we could never know Him as we would anyone that we know); furthermore, there is no one that we can compare to His holiness. To that end; it is only with utmost awe, gratitude and thanksgiving (for the priviledge afforded us by Jesus) that we must approach His throne of grace.
