  1. When we acknowledge that our life is out of control and God is not Lord anymore then we become a candidate for God to break us in order that He can rebuild us. We tend to resist a broken and contrite heart because we like to be in control of our selves and when we are broken then God can is in control.
  2. A. Yes B. When we receive as our saviour we become a new creation and He creates within us a pure heart that is moldable. C.Repent, receive His forgiveness and believe that God can do what He said.
  3. A. No No We must be willing to acknowledge our sins and be willing to take responsibilty for our actions. In other words, to tell it like it is.
  4. A.In order for David to ask for this pardon he had to have faith in God and believe that God was a God of compassion and mercy and that He was a rewarder of those who dilidgently seek Him. Part B That faith is based on knowing God in a personal way. Part C. through hearing the Word of God.
  5. Q4. In what way does Abraham show persistence? Why is persistence necessary in prayer? Have you ever experienced "praying through"? What was it like? Abraham kept on asking, showing persistance. The Word of God tells us to keep on asking, seeking and knocking again showing persistance and perserverance.
  6. Q3. Do you think Abraham's boldness pleased God? Why or why not? What might cause God to take delight in your prayers to him? Yes, He was bold enough to cry out to God for the righteous, no matter how few. That was faith. Faith, perserverance, humility and boldenss, I believe causes God to take delight in our prayers. Faith moves God Perserverance shows Him we mean business like the widow that kept going to the judge humility shows our recognition of our need for God. Boldness is obedient because in Hebrews He tells us to approach the throne of God boldly.
  7. Q2. How did Abraham demonstrate his humility before God? Why must boldness be tempered with humility? Abraham admitted he was nothing, recognizing his place before the Almighty. When we think we are nothing without boldness, ( God tells us to approach His throne with boldness) we will feel unworthy to come to God with anything.
  8. Q1. What is the basis of Abraham's argument that God should spare Sodom? How does it relate to God's character? Abraham cared about the righteous, even if if there were onlya few and he was willing to intercede for them. God sent Jesus to the earth to die for our sins. He would have done that if there had only been one. As Abraham interceded for the righteous, Jesus sits at the right hand of god and intercedes for us.
  9. A wrong understanding of determinism and predestination will cause to us to say what is the use and pray everything, thy will be done. Isaiah 43:26 says for us to put God in remememberance, state your case. Let us contend together a false belief, deterministic, that God has already made up His mind. If that is so why does He call for intercessors?
  10. Moses took the people before God in His prayers. He stood in the gap and ask God to give them another chance, that ws mercy and compassion on Moses behalf. the loigical grounds was that he reminded God that these were his people, and He had had bought them out of bondage with great power and His mighty hand . He reminded God that the Egyptians would make this a talk of the town situation. To pray the promises is to pray the Word of God. Ex. State the need and then pray the solution, such as God I know you will meet this need because your Word says, God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. This type of pryaing strngthens your faith because it is the Word that you are using and faith comes by hearing the Word. The truth will set us free, but we must apply the truth of God's Word to our situation. speak the Wrod of God and in order to speak the Word we must know the Word and to know the Word we must hear, evaluate, apply, remember and try. When we know God's Word we will pray more according to His will in life's situations. 1 John 5:14 says, " Now this is the confidence we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. Tha is excercising our faith.
  11. How can a loving God be angry? He had done so much for them, brought them out of bondage they had forgotten the goodness of God and were impatient about God directing them to the promised land. they wanted to take matters into their own hands and this angered God. Is God's sentence to destroy Israel and raise up a new nation through Moses justified? Yes, He have them clear directions and was at this moment giving Moses directions for the tabernacle. He wa still making provision for their future and they were going against the very things He had told them not to do.
  12. Read Exodus 32:1-14. What had the people done that was so bad? God had given them the Ten Commandments and the number one commandmant was not to have another God before them. They told Aaron to make us gods that will go before us. They created an image similiar to the gods of their neighbors. He had delivered them out of bondage and now they wanted other gods to go before them. How quicky we forget.
  13. Why should we continually ask forgiveness? How can unforgiveness on our part block God's blessing? How can unforgiveness block God's forgiveness? The Bible says, not one of us is good. we all sin and to ask God 's forgivness will keep the channel of blessings open. When we harbor unforgivness it blocks the blessings of God because He cannot forgive our sins when we will not forgive those who have hurt us. We are not to only forgive others, we must forgive ourselves. Unforgivenss stops up the well
  14. Why do we seek to be independent of asking anyone for help? Why do we seek to be independent of God? Why should we ask God to "give" us daily bread so long as we can earn a living for ourselves? Most of us have been taught to be independent and we think asking for help shows a sign of weakness. It is hard for me to ask anyone for help. I can ask God because He knows my weaknesses but asking people is harder. We are a serve yourself people, even where God is concerned. We want to be the strong ones supporting ourselves, making our own decisions, etc. Like a child that says, " I can do it myself," that is the way we treat God so much of the time. God gave us this model prayer and He didn't inspire these words because He didn't have anything else to do, they are for our good and by asking for our daily bread we are being obedient and also placing our trust in Him and putting aside our, I can do it myself," attitude, We are letting God get involved. The bread He has to give us is better than the bread we can earn. He says, I am able to do abundantly more for you than you can even ask or think about asking.
  15. Q2. In what sense are we asking that the Father's kingdom should come? Why are we asking for the Father's will to be done here on earth? How should this prayer affect our living? When we say, " Thy kingdom come, we are asking God to be first in our lives, manifesting His power and glory. God, our Father knows what is best for us and He has thoughts for our good and our saying, Father, your will be done, we are submitting our will into His will. His will should be done in every area of our everyday life, even to the smallest things. We could be more of a blessing to people and God if we would only take time and ask, God what is your will in this? We need to use it buying homes, cars and even our marriages. God is interested in all of our lives and wants to be the director of them if we would only permit Him.
