Wow. I just signed up for this Bible study tonight and I have loved reading all of your responses to this first question. I think pretty much everything's been covered. I think it is an interesting passage in helping me to understand that we humans tend to focus on the negative aspects of a situation instead of the positive. I am currently reading a book entitled God at Ground Zero and in one part they point out that while over 2000 people died as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center, over 25,000 people escaped. Praise God!
I think Gideon's story will help me to look for how God is using my situation for his Glory rather than how I am being oppressed.
