The servant was afraid because he could not see. Elisha had no fear because he could see and knew God's was their to fight his battle. To have a relationship with the Father so we can be assured for His faithfulness in protecting. He says the battle is not ours, but His. Because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. He is my strength.

Because He wanted Joshua to know that is Commander regardless. Joshua and the Israelites must line up with His cause not He their cause. He felt the presence, holiness and sovereignty of God. He felt assurance of victory because God is with him.
