Israel worshiped the gods of the Amorites by doing so they were disobedient. They broke the first commandment. When we don't listen to God, we are disobedient and we suffer the consequences of our actions. God knows we must go thru this suffering so we will call upon Him and learn to be dependent on Him. This I speak from experience as God has taught me the difference in my life between being independent and being dependent on Him. What he gives lasts longer than what I myself was able to obtain, and that is peace in my life.

God's answwer is that Gideon will overcome the Midianites because He will be with him. If we remember that God is with us, we can see our way through the obstacles that confront us. 1 JOHN 4:4 You, dear children are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater then the one who is in the world. God, I pray for the wisdom to know your will in my life, and I pray that my faith will be strong enough to stay on the path of your will.

Gideon blamed God saying God abandoned them, They abandoned Godfirst and God gave them into the hands of the Midianites. He was accurate in his assesment without realizing it was the result of their actions. We blame God because we fail to see our fault in a situation or we forget that God is in control and does have a plan. The danger of blaming God is we fail to realize our disobedience or our lack of faith. We can overcome this by being faithful and obedient.
