  1. Jesus told us that anything we ask in His name will be heard. We know that, because of His sacrifice we have attained eternal life and the gift of grace. With this knowledge, we can be bold and confident that Jesus will accept us at His throne. We are promised love, compassion and acceptance not condemnation. God can be merciful because He is a loving Father as well as judge. Love for us as sinners is paramount.
  2. Jesus chose human life and faced temptation BUT He chose not to succomb and stayed strong through His relationship with His Father God. We know about the kinds of ways he was tempted- to give himself temporary satisfaction, to conquer the world easilyand give in to the evil ruler of this world. We often give into our desires for food, for admiration and popularity. I think it was very hard for Jesus after a 40 day fast; it should teach us that strength comes through our relationship with the Father. Even before His death Jesus the man did not want to suffer but He was obedient; this example has been an inspiration to many persecuted for their faith and it helps us to know Jesus faced weaknesses too. We can only overcome by prayer.
  3. If we don't hold fast to our confession of faith, then we are no longer faithful practising Christians. We confess (as Anglicans) our belief in Jesus as God's Son, as Our Lord and as our Saviour. It is essential that we hold to this because all we do is in the light of our faith in Jesus. Together we can believe the same, we have ONE faith and ONE Lord, Jesus. janesb
  4. We are all part of the Body of Christ with different talents( 1Corinthians 12). The minister moves on , the people stay and they need to know how to serve and help others. I am part of a team ministry in our Church. Our pastor has monthly meetings to equip us. We go off and do Bible studies and help in other ways as a result of these teachings. In turn we encourage other members to know Gos'a word and serve the church
