2. Q1. (1 John 5:4-5) How does a defeatist mentality differ from a belief that in Christ we have overcome the world? A defeatist being a person who surrenders easily or is subject to live in defeat. We in Yahushua haMashiach.- Christ the Lord, know that He paid our debt to this worlds grip on us. We no longer live in this world because we live by faith in the Son of Yahowah, who loves us and gave Himself for us. The text tells us that those who do not believe in the Son of Yahowah are already condemned. If a person does not choose Him, they who are defeated and will stay in that mentality until they surrender to His call. What part does faith have in this overcoming? It is by faith that we live. So many times in the ministry of healing that Yahushua walked in, He would tell them that it was their faith that had healed them. Our faith in and through Him, is what causes us to over come every thing, every situation in our lives. If we are afflicted the Bible tells us that we are to pray for ourselves. If we follow, read and declare His word in our circumstance, we will overcome it all. What part does unbelief have in a defeatist mentality? Every part. A person can talk themselves right in to being sick by the power of their own tongue. Out of the heart speaks the mouth. These two organs are tied together.
3. Q4. (1 John 4:11-18) What kind of fear should we have towards God? A healthy fear is a fear of awe in His power, in His creation and just an
4. Q3. (1 John 4:7-8) Why is the statement, "God is love," so important? Out of all the weapons in the enemies arsenal, the one that he has no concept of is love. He doesn
5. Q2. (1 John 4:4) What in us is greater than false prophets and even Satan? Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world. In what sense have we overcome them? It is the Holy Spirit in us that helps us to recognize false spirits. For whatsoever is born of Yahowah overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. In what way will we overcome them in the future? The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world's ways is simply the one who believes Yahushua is the Son of Yahowah who offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that He is giving us. We don't have to rely on the world's guesses and opinions. We didn't learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from Yahowah, who taught us person-to-person through His Son, Yahushua, through the power of His Spirit. How should this truth affect fear in our lives? We do not have to fear at all. For Elohim gave us not a spirit of fearfulness; but of power and love and discipline. Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith Yahweh of hosts. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before Elohim to the casting down of strongholds), casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of Elohim, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Mashiyach;
6. Q1. (1 John 4:1-3) Why is believing that Jesus was God in the flesh so important? Because we are in the flesh and if Yahowah is not in us as a result of all that His Son went through in the flesh, born in the flesh, died in the flesh, raised in the Spirit, then How could we by His Spirit be raised at the end of ages? Yahowah God had to become manifest so that He could destroy the works of the devil. Besides that, it was all spelled out in the genealogy of the family of Adam, their names and what their names mean: Adam -Man, Seth- appointed, Enosh-mortal, Cainan-sorrow, Malhalel- The blessed God, Jared- shall come down, Enoch- teaching, Methuselah - His death shall bring, Lamech- The despairing, Noah- rest/comfort. Now just read the meaning of those names as if you are reading a sentence. Man is appointed mortal sorrow. The blessed God shall come down teaching His death shall bring the despairing, rest and comfort. Why doesn't Satan want us to believe that? Because He doesnt want people to believe in Yahowah so that He would be looked upon as a liar. Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; If we didnt believe that Yahushua was indeed the flesh of God, then how could we believe that the devil has been defeated? Yahushua was the visible of the invisible God of Israel. What are the implications of the fact that Jesus could live out his divine life in a human body like ours? Well, it gives us someone to measure ourselves by. A goal of sorts, to live and walk to the best of our ability in the flesh, but which can only be achieved by the power of the Spirit, just like Yahushua did. We each have to work out our own salvation and the Holy Spirit guides us on this journey. What significance does it bring to the crucifixion and to the resurrection? The flesh had to be put to death. Flesh and blood can not enter heaven. Yahushua had to show us this so that we would believe in the resurrection by faith that since we know that it happened to Him, that He died and was resurrected again, so can we. What is the significance for your Christian life? It is all about faith and belief in Him. Yahowah placed a measure of faith in the heart of man so that we would at least be able to have a tiny bit to build upon. When we read the scriptures and the Holy Spirit moves us to truth and reveals to us what the scriptures say so that we can understand them, then we begin to trust and to lean on Him, by faith, and not on our own human mind because humanity is at war with Yahowah and the carnal mind is working against Him. There is a constant battle going on inside and the Holy Spirit encourages us to keep moving forward to fulfill our purpose and plan that Yahowah God has laid out for each one of us, on our own and as a complete body in unity of the same faith, and the same love.
7. Q4. (1 John 3:22) We know that God doesn't "owe" us anything. So what is the relationship between obedience and answered prayer? Prayer is somthing we make known by our petitions. His answer He makes known, but we have to be looking for His answr. He does not always say yes, but He does promise to stick with us. Obedience is just who we become when we finally get that He loves us. We want to love Him too, so we just love Him by showing Him the honor and glory that He deserves. Do we "earn" God's favor through obedience? We do not earn anything from Yahowah. He has promised from the beginning that if we obey His commandments, we will receive His blessings. If we do not, we will receive curses. We obey His commandments because this is how we show our love towards Him. He knows what is really in our hearts and we couldn
8. Q3. (1 John 3:16-18) What does it mean to "lay down your life for your brothers"? Putting aside my needs or wants to help those who truly need or truly want, basically to be a sacrifice to those who are in need. What are some concrete examples of this kind of love in action within the Christian community? I kinda like what John say’s here. Let us stop just saying we love each other and let us really show our love by our actions. I visit a church now and then in the smaller city near where I live and I can always depend on a warm hug from a certain few. I never liked hugs because I never had them growing up as a child. It was my husbands family who taught me how to hug and now I hug everyone. When I was working in a nursing home there was this little ole lady who had dementia. When I would go to hug her, she held on for the longest time and I learned from her that it is ok to stay in the warm embrace of one who has so much love to give. There really is an art to hugging. I learned this at a conference. You hug , closely with no reserve or room between you even at the feet. When you pull away, you finish off that hug with a look right into the eyes of the one you have hugged and that seals the connection of love. If you are in a large congregation, how can you get to know other members so you'll be able to lay down your life for them -- and they for you? Stand at the back of the congregation and greet folks with a hand shake or a hug. Smile at them while you look at them straight in the eye. Introduce yourself as their sister or brother in Christ, so that they begin the family connection right then and there. We have forgotten that we are still sisters and brothers and we need to bring that lingo back into our vocabulary. We are daily loosing each other through fear of what we may or may not say correctly and this is how we can take back just a little bit of who we are in Yahushua.
9. Q2. (1 John 3:15) How can anger turn into hatred in our hearts? A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. If we keep a sharp eye out for the weed, then we can cut it off and burn it before it takes it’s shape in the garden. I don’t know if you all have seen a thistle grow to it’s fullest capacity, but they are tall and have a beautiful flower. Looks can be deceiving as we know, And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14 Anger is a short lived appetite and it doesn’t feed us anything good, in fact just the opposite. Remember Esau? He later regretted feeding his appetite, but by then it was too late. He had already traded away his blessing. We can do that.. this stuff is written in scripture so that we learn from other people’s mistakes. If we let anger go by the way side with out repentance, it will begin to fester into so much more and we don’t need more sin, we need more of Yahushua and He can’t be associated with evil. He is Holy! In what way do anger and hatred relate to murder? They both feed the power of destruction and it’s behaviors. How can we get rid of stored-up anger in our hearts so that we may love those who have offended us? Seek Yahushua’s guidance in prayer. In prayer there is a connection between what Yahushua does and what we do. We can't get forgiveness from Yahushua, for instance, without also forgiving others. If we refuse to do our part, we cut ourself off from Yahushua’s part. NOTE TO JANMARY: I sympathize with your past dilemma, but praise God with you on the outcome. Most often folks forget that if God can wash and cleanse the beaches all around the world, twice a day, He can certainly cleanse the soul.
10. Q1. (1 John 3:12-15) Why did Cain resent Abel? Genesis 4: 3-7
11. Q5. (1 John 3:3-10) How does John's teaching on sin and righteousness in this passage relate to combating the false teachers? One who is lawless is actively rebelling against the law, like these false teachers. This is a strong indication that there is an absence of fellowship with Yahushua. A person who lives this lifestyle is already condemned and is therefore under the control of Yahowah
12. Q4. (1 John 3:6, 9) How does the presence of God's seed in us keep us from habitual lawlessness and sin? The Holy Spirit strengthens our confidence and our faith to be obedient to the will of God. Just like when Yahowah God whom the Bible clearly tells us is Spirit, lead Moses and the Hebrews out of Egypt. We are led by the Spirit. He didnt lead them out of slavery to place them back into slavery which many mis-read or mis-understand regarding the law. He led them out because He had made a covenant with Abraham; that in him, all the families of the earth should be blessed. This means all the families of the earth, not just Israelites, Jews or Gentiles. He gave His law and statutes to receive the material and spiritual blessings, but it was through His Son Yahushua who became the perfect Lamb of God that we might gain eternal life. It was through Gods seed, of His Son, that we would receive His seed, the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead us through, to teach us the new Covenant which God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah. 31:31-34 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. How does the Holy Spirit sanctify us and make us like Jesus? He leads us to truth. We must be readily available to be taught by the Holy Spirit and not by man as was spoken by the prophet. With the Spirit of God Yahowah now available to whom is called, the principles of love that the law expressed is now being written into the heart of those who have repented of breaking/ transgressing the law. This is the central promise from the New Covenant. What is sin? That definition is found in scripture: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4
13. Q3. (1 John 3:4) How does lawlessness show up in a person's attitude and actions? By their guilt, their shame, maybe their remorse or their lack of all such things. Some folks have been so completely hardened that they show nothing for their actions until they are held up to the light. I will give you a scenario. Three years ago, my husband and a friend of his sister

15. Q2. (1 John 2:28; 3:2-3) In what way does our expectation of Christ's Second Coming motivate us to purify ourselves from sin? Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Sin, therefore is a violation of the Torah; a transgression against the law. Where there is no law, there is also no violation. Moral behavior is absolute, unless a statute makes a particular act illegal and punishable, there is no violation and the act goes unpunished. The blood that was spilled from Yahushua, which always was and forever will be a symbol a type to come, has now become the blood from His one death that is for all. The wages of sin is death. Yahushua
16. Q1. (1 John 2:29-3:2) In what sense are we "children of God"? It was Yahushua who introduced Yahowah God to us as our Father, when He said,
17. Q4. (1 John 2:24-28) What does it mean to abide/remain/continue in Jesus? Staying steadfast, firm in the truth as the Holy Spirit reveals truth to us. Walking in the anointing. Give an example of what a Christian might be doing who is "abiding" in Jesus. I am not sure what a
18. Sometimes; and this happens to me often, the Holy Spirit will convey truth through others and or scriptures or passages. When I read this post, I did exactly the same thing I do when the Holy Spirit poses a revelational thought. "WOW!"
19. Q3. (1 John 2:20, 27) In what ways is the Holy Spirit an internal Guide for us? Kinda like a compass, I am going to say. The Holy Spirit points us in the right direction and always in the same direction... to truth. As His anointing continues to abide in us and teach us about all things, nothing that is counterfeit will be taught to us and neither should we teach anything that is counterfeit. We are to remain united in truth and not departing from that truth. John is trying to warn the believers then, just as his word is still alive with the breath of the Holy Spirit now, warning us that nothing has changed. There are still false teachers but they're no match for what is embedded deeply within usYahushuas anointing. We dont need any so-called false teaching because the Holy Spirit teaches us everything we need to know. But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me. And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. Jeremiah 31:33-34 , John 6:45, Acts 13:39 , Romans 11:27 , 1Corinthians 2:14-16, 1 John 2:20 ¶ In what ways does he teach us? Through the word of our scriptures that we are given and through the impartations of others we surround ourselves with who are likewise believers born in the same spirit. He is the Father to everyone who keeps covenant with Him whom we know by their fruits. In what ways does he point us to Jesus' teaching? Through our life-given personal relationship, from the One True Vine through the branch flows the life of the spirit.
20. Q2. (1 John 2:20-21) What is the "anointing" that John is talking about? We have received the Messiahs anointing, literally, we have an anointing because we are anointed through Yahushua. We have a special endowment of our heart, mind, body and soul; a baptism, a rite if you will through Yahushua, of His spirit, linked with our inner man. What John was teaching was the anointing as a protection against false teachers. Believers are expected to continue in their growth and walk, by going to the house of teaching and grow further in the truth. Just like today, folks who are new in their walk certainly should find a church or a teacher of the Bible themselves and begin to make an effort to grow in truth. This is one of my callings is to really push new believers to read their Bibles. There are still folks who stand in the pulpit every Sunday and have no idea what they are doing, yet their mouths go on and on and they collect a check. It is so obvious of their lack of fruit that they are not anointed with the Holy Spirit, but yet they keep plugging along. I completely do not understand how folks who are alive in the spirit can sit through even ten minutes of this kind of teacher. I can not. Scripture clearly tells us that with out the Spirit , folks just dont understand what is in the scripture. If folks dont read their Bibles, asking for the Holy Spirit to lead them, really seeking the Kingdom and His righteousness, how will they ever know they are being taught falsely or not? Yahowah God will honor anyone who clearly and sincerely seeks Him. The Bible tells us that those who seek Him will be rewarded and also those who seek Him, will find Him, when they seek Him with all their heart. In what way is anointing connected to the Holy Spirit in the Bible? John mentions in verse 20 that they have an unction which in greek is chrisma meaning: an unguent or smearing, i.e. (figuratively) the special endowment ("chrism") of the Holy Spirit:--anointing, unction. John said that this special smearing comes from the Holy One which in the greek is hagios which comes from the word hagnos, meaning properly, clean, i.e. (figuratively) innocent, modest, perfect:--chaste, clean, pure. I am assuming that this is referring to Yahushua, since He is who we are anointed through. He is the only Pure and Perfect Holy One. The word hagios means sacred (physically, pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially, consecrated):--(most) holy (one, thing), saint. I believe that the Holy Spirit comforts them, to make them stand fast, as they are anointed by the Holy Spirit with the true knowledge of salvation, so as not to believe these false teachers, yet some had already been led astray. I think John teaches that they were not real reformed believers in the first place. The word chrism indicates a smearing like an ointment by which the anointing is effected; and so it was probably interpreted differently to bring out the meaning provided in our former translations. This may be an allusion to the holy anointing oil of the law, based on the 45th Psalm verse 7: Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. The anointing is mentioned again in the first chapter of Hebrews verse nine which reads: Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Has every Christian received this anointing? I don't believe so. Being a 'Christian' doesn't mean you are filled with the Holy Spirit anymore than going to McDonalds, makes you a cheeseburger. I think though that in order to live in and walk in this anointing, we are expected to make the effort to grow closer towards Him and invite His Spirit to become activated in our inner man and then accept the baptism of the Ruwach (Holy Spirit). What do you think? All that I wrote is what I think based on my understanding of the word in the King James Bible, using the Strongs to interpret the greek that is translated into the word that I hold.
21. Q1. (1 John 2:18) What is this antichrist that John expects to come? I think that John is less concerned with the man of lawlessness, this unique man and his role in the end time drama than he is with the false teachers or actors that were on the stage in this day that we are studying. His concern is related to those who went out from them, but they were not of them because they denied that Yahshua was the Messiah and that He came in the flesh and body of a human being. What is the difference between the antichrist and antichrists in the church John is writing to? The anti-christ is a certain man of lawlessness (son of perdition) that will one day stand in the temple and claim that He is God and in all reality, this man should not be standing in the temple at all. We have scriptures that warn us of his coming. ¶ Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. (2nd Thes 2:3, Daniel 7:25, Eph 5:6) Where the future antichrist is a certain and literal man, a particular personage or power, variously identified or explained, who is conceived of as appearing in the world as the principal antagonist of Christ., the difference is that anyone who does not believe that Yahushua came in the flesh is against the will of Yahowah and is considered anti-Christ; a disbeliever in Christ. A person who is influenced by the spirit of antichrist. In what ways do we see the spirit of antichrist at work in our day? O my goodness, should we really need to answer this? I think the spirit of the soon to come anti-Christ started to rise on the day that America accepted the judgment of the Supreme Court when they announced their decision in Roe - vs- Wade. Then it was prayer out of schools, then the ten commandments out from the public eye and then popular entertainment personas coming out of the closet, then their in your face I want my rights as a homosexual, then I want to be married and now you have to change your law so that I can be and it has so escalated in the past two years that our heads are spinning with nausea. But we are so often reminded that this too will pass and the kingdom of Yahowah will come and Yahshua will reign here on earth because the armies which were in heaven will follow Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar. Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts. (Revelations 19:14-15, Zechariah 14:16 -21)
22. Q5. (1 John 2:26-27) If we have the Holy Spirit, why do we need teachers in the church? Both
23. Q4. (1 John 2:15-17) What kinds of sins are covered by the three examples of worldliness that John gives? 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the **** of the flesh, and the **** of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. They all are comparable to why we are in the mess that we are in. Genesis 3:6 ¶ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, (the desires of the old nature or flesh)and that it was pleasant to the eyes, ( the desires of the eyes) and a tree to be desired to make one wise, ( the pretentions of life) she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. The same sin that began in the garden... disobedience to the will of Yahowah. These kinds of sinful temptations were also by the way, the same temptations that Yahushua showed us how to overcome while He was in the desert with the enemy. The hunger for the false bread of this world. Hunger for it’s false power that tries to glorify us, rather than Yahowah. The reliance on what is of the world rather than the Creator of all that is. Satan, by God's permission, may have power over the bodies of the best of men but we can be reassured because satan’s power is limited and bound because he can not tempt us above what we are able to overcome. He didn’t have the power to cast Yahushua down, but he did try to tempt Yahushua to do it Himself in hopes of landing on a pile of angels. What we also know from Yahushua’s experience in the desert is that satan is a conquered enemy; resist him, and he will run. Why are these sometimes so difficult for us to discern in ourselves? Probably because they have been around for a long time. I believe that these particular sinful temptations are a huge part of the enemies limited arsenal. He is sly and cunning. Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Why is worldliness so harmful to our future? Because it only appears to be our future but it isn’t lasting. This world will one day pass away and disappear and with it the forbidden cravings; the passionate desires, and **** of it; but he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides forever in Lord Yahushua and can not be taken from His hand.
