  1. I absolutely agree with what everyone else has posted about proofs of the resurrection - particularly about the changed the lives. Just have an additional question - how does one answer the 'pushback' I've gotten from folks who state "are muslims dying for a lie or the truth"? Or "what about the other folks (Jim Jones cults, etc) that have died for a what they believed to be the truth too"? Thanks in advance!
  2. When repeated often, doesn't the Lord's Supper run the risk of becoming mundane and lose its meaning? Absolutely! Like one member stated - we are, like sheep and the Israelites, so forgetful and in need of continuous reminding of Jesus' atonement for our sins - this ceremony will keep that fresh in our minds when we partake of it in a spirit of repentance and remembrance. Why did Jesus command its repetition? Because He is God and He knew/knows His sheep... the disciples *walked* with Him and forgot/denied Him. How sweet it must be to His ears, that we - who have never seen - are still faithful and hopeful and desirous of His presence in this intimate way!
  3. I don't think there is anything else to add to the fine thoughts already stated here! In an effort to become 'more appealing' to the masses and grow churches, I'm afraid many churches may have watered down the message... As I mentioned in my last post - for me the Lord's Supper is an intimate time of reflection, confession, repentance, and conversation with our Creator; deeply personal and profound. Thank you all for your thoughts - what wonderful brothers and sisters I have!
  4. Q1. How does your particular understanding of the bread and the wine (literal or figurative) help you grow closer to Christ when partaking of the Lord's Supper? Having grown up with the literal translation of the Lord's Supper and now belonging to a denomination that believes the figurative translation - I must add that the Lord's Supper is a deeply intimate time between the Lord and myself. It is unlike my daily time with Him, in that the entire process of holding the elements and taking time to confess and converse with God so much more profound and personal. I've said, jokingly, to my pastor that I wish we could have this service more than just quarterly because it is so moving, however, I realize this is what keeps it profound and not rote. Have a lovely Lord's Day all!
