  1. The terms "Blessed Virgin Mary" and Mother of God" are appropriate because the very essence of each term indeed discribe who Mary was and is. While I am not catholic, I can understand why most protestants would be hesitant to call her "blessed among women" because she is wholly human. However, I do consider her blessed among women because God could have chosen any woman for this honor, but He chose Mary........ Blessed indeed is she among women.
  2. I believe that Mary's response to the angel is one of total submission to the will of God. I am caught up sometimes by "urgings" from the Holy Spirit. I a m learning to obey them more and more as I get older and more mature in my christian walk. Sometimes I wonder how many blessings I have forfeited because my heart wasn't like Mary's! Mary's response was an informed consent because she asked questions in a loving and pure manner. I believe she would have consented even if the outcome could have been less favorable to her. She was already being refered to as "highly favored one." (verse 28). When we respond to God we not only consent to His will, but even the possibility of that very will taking us out of our comfort zones.
  3. The virgin conception teaches us that Jesus is not only human, but He is devine as well. That is to say, He is wholly God and Wholly human
  4. I believe that Zacherias was disciplined because we can detect a spirit of doubt in his question to Gabriel. "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." Zacherias was a priest that served in the Temple and should of known full well that nothing is impossible for God. Mary's question was one of a young teenager with a limited knowledge of pregnancies, so, I believe her question was not of Gods ability to perform this miracle, but of how He would do it. In short, she was in awe of the Lord her God.
  5. 1) That she would conceive and bring forth a Son. 2)That she would name her Son Jesus. 3)That her Son would be great. 4)Her Son would be called the Son of the Highest. 5)Her Son would be given the Throne of His father David by God Himself. 6) Her Son would reign over the house of Jacob forever. 7) Her Sons kingdom would have no end. .
