This phrase empasizes the truth that our God is higher and above all other gods. Despite His greatness, He still loves and looks out for small me and you. It also reiterates the truth that God is a Holy God and he expects no less from us as His children. We are to live our life in reverence of Him and in purity. "Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?"...NO. we should live our lives circumspectly unto Him, giving glory to Him always.

To me, God most high describes the awesomeness of God; His Grace, mercy, love, kindness,goodness etc. Besides Him there is no other God. Even much more than our human minds can fanthom and much more than mere words can describe, our God is a great and awesome God. The Bible says that the heaven is His throne ans the earth is His footstool - Acts 7:49, Isaiah 66:1 He is indeed the MOST HIGH GOD!

I think Abraham and Melchizedek both believed that God most high is the creator of heaven and earth and that he is the olny one that can deliver ones enemies into ones hands.
