  1. The servant saw the armies of the enemy surrounding them, and was afraid. The difference between him and Elisha, is that Elisha could see the next dimension, and knew the size of God's army. We also need for God to open our eyes to truth. Studying lessons like this helps me to know truth. I am strengthened in my spiritual battle as I gain greater awareness of God's character and Presence with me.
  2. Joshua's question is from the human perspective, but it is the wrong question as it relates to God. We need to ask if we are on God's side. That is, are we walking in obedience to Him? Joshua at first approached the person, apparently without fear. But when he realized Who it was, he fell face down in submission and surrender. He asked for instructions and obeyed. I expect that after the encounter, he was in a state of exhilaration and joy.
  3. I have been working to remember this title in my prayers. I like thinking of the meeting between Abram and Melchizedek. It must have been a truly special experience. My Christian friends are so special to me, and it is because we all love and follow the same God Most High.
  4. These men share bread and wine in fellowship and agreement. They refer to God as "God Most High", creator of Heaven and Earth. They believe that God was the One who enabled the victory over the enemies. Abraham recognized Melchizedek as priest of God Most High, and gave him a tithe of the spoils. Melchizedek blessed Abraham.
