Q4. Meditate on the titles "King of Glory" (Psalm 24:7-10) and "Father of glory" (Ephesians 1:17). What do they tell us about God? From what I understand of the concept of God's glory, I think the idea is of tremendous substance. God is substantial in a way that we don't yet know or experience. It is awe inspiring, yet I also feel like I don't have a very good grasp of this. Moses asked to see God's glory, but was only allowed to see the back as God's glory went past him. How should they affect our attitudes as we worship God? Our worship of God must be reverent, respectful, with a humble attitude. He is Royal like no human has ever been or ever could be, but at the same time, He is our Father. This gives us an intimacy and connection with Him that most of us do not have with earthly kings and rulers. According to 2 Corinthians 3:18, how does God's glory come to fill our lives? 2 Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. NKJV We can only behold the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, that is, as with an image and not the true substance of the thing. Yet by the Holy Spirit we are being transformed into that image of God's glory.

High and Lofty One is similar to Most High, in that God is above, beyond, greater, more powerful, absolutely holy when compared to man. Man tends to self-exalt, but God is the exalted one. That God inhabits eternity tells me that He is outside of our space-time continuum. He created it, after all, so then He would not live within it as the creation does. It is difficult for us to conceive of eternity because we only have the experience of beginnings and endings, of past, present, and future. Whose name is Holy. I don't know why, but when I think of God's holiness, it affects me very deeply. Maybe it is because I know that I'm not holy, but do so want to be truly holy. By His Holy Spirit dwelling in us we have been made holy, sanctified and set apart for Him, but we still are not holy as He is Holy. How I long to enter into the Presence of the Holy Lord God! In the Resurrection, when this corruptible has put on incorruption, I know we will see Him. 1 Jn 3:1-3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. NKJV

The title God Most High corresponds in my mind to the concept of God as Holy. He is so much higher, so far beyond, so very "other" when compared to us (me). It awes and humbles me to contemplate the idea that the Most High cares about me, that He has reached out to seek and find me in my lost and sinful state, to save me and give me His Holy Spirit. One of my favorite passages was used in the lesson for this title. I love how it is rendered in the NKJ: Ps 91:1-2 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust." NKJV If I am truly under the protection of the Most High, what harm could come to me? He keeps me safe and this is a great comfort. Tanya

Both Melchizedek and Abram referred to the LORD as God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. They both believed and knew God as Creator. If He is Creator, then He also is ruler of all.
