  1. David pours out his heart to the Lord, honestly and respectfully; he cries for help and comfort. Always in the Lord, and the desire to be obedient, rather than in his own ability or wisdom. No matter what our trouble or trial, it's always good to look back and recall the goodness of the Lord. He strengthened himself by realizing: that God is his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble ; By putting his trust and hope in the Lord ; Waiting patiently and turning to the Lord ; By acknowledging that God had delivered him from all his fears ; By hearing his cries for help .
  2. To get him out of his palace as he was so jealous of him for his rising popularity which caused him (Saul) to think that he would soon lose his kingdom to David; and also, he feared him because the Lord was with him. The glory belongs to the Lord as does the battle. David was a man after God's heart. That has been my goal . Whatever comes out of me must be from GOD. Holy Spirit must fill me .Since I started that my whole life after being a prodigal son and made complete a 360 degree turn. I want people to see Jesus Christ in me as I move around in Cairo.
  3. David’s explanation to Saul of his combat experience says that he fully believes that God's will empower him to take down Goliath as he had done with the lion and the bear.David has an unshakable faith in God. David spoke boldly to Saul of God and what God can do when the LORD is with him. Saul allows David to go fight because he see the Spirit of God on this young boy. Saul had faith and his faith was further strengthen by David's testimony of God's protection and empowerment.
  4. David is so upset about Goliath’s taunt because he is ridiculing the people of God and no one is coming forth to shut him up. Eliab, David's brother is so upset with David because David was asking questions about the giant and about the price the king has in place for anyone who kills the giant. He felt David was just poke nosing into a subject he did not have the right to. David’s faith at this time was fully dependent on God. On the other hand Eliab, though the elder brother, was jealous of his little brother's confidence that his faith in God would bring Goliath down.
  5. David was summoned to court to relieve the stresses and anxiety that Saul experienced. God still loved Saul. God still cared for him, even though Saul was far away from Lord. God created an opportunity for David to learn how he should function as a king for Israel- from Shepherd to King. Things that tend to prevent us from learning from God are that we are not aligned with Holy Spirit. We get distracted very quickly due weak flesh. We should be always willing to teachable by shedding our pride and reading the word of God and meditating and praying. This will help us to surrender and obey to God.
  6. Samuel's anointing David confirmed God's choice of the next king of Israel. The Holy Spirit's coming upon David gave him empowerment for the work ahead. The Holy Spirit upon me is vital for me to accomplish the assignments that God has ordained for me to accomplish in the Kingdom of God. Holy Spirit is my companion who constantly guides me to be in the light. Holy Spirit helps me to conquer fear and increase my faith. Holy Spirit helps me to grow in the love of God.
  7. It is vital to hear God's voice. It is our prerequisite to do God’s work and implement God’s plan. Even our salvation starts, with "faith comes by hearing by the Word of God." Rom10:17 We have to learn to close our eyes and just listen for that still, small Voice. God’s Voice comes to me when I put myself in the quiet stillness. It is very important to read and pray for Holy Spirit to speak to you. When you listen to God‘s voice you have peace, power to get out of the flesh driven sin.
  8. Oh yes. Many a times. I have decided to follow my own path. Most of the time it is due to pride, and an “attitude of I know all”. My rebellious or arrogant personality made me to refuse to listen to God’s word, pray or obey Lord. What is needed is to accept Jesus Christ, as Lord and savior and confess our sins and seek forgiveness from Lord who died for us. Next time when pride and /or arrogance creep in in the heart call upon the Word of God and pray so that Holy Spirit will give us the strength to overcome this. If we do not do this there is no peace or joy .
