  1. We are still human and we tend to rely on our own abilities to fight our battles. We forget that God will always be ther for us if and when we call upon him. We need to surrender oursleves to God completely and allow God to do what he needs to do in our lives.
  2. David knew that God was with him and that God will not let him down. His faith in God was big and real. David was an accomplished warrior he has done battle with lions and bears to save his fathers sheeps. Saul a glispe of himself in David and he knew that God was with David and that through him he will have the victory that the Israelites needed. He knew that God was there. Saul was still God's chosen so he felt God's presence there with him and David. God's spirit still roam around Saul and David and kept some order in Israel.
  3. David is upset at the fact that someone dares to insult God and his people the way that Goliath was doing. Goliath had no respect for the living God and even less for the Israelites who were God's chosen peopel. Eliab did not want others around him to think or see that his little brother was braver than him and that he too was afraid of Goliath. This part of the story shows us how much faith in God's deliverance from the Philistines was at hand and that anyone who puts his faith in God will have the victory. This also shows us that God was right in choosing David over his brother because Eliab was a follower not a leader.
  4. God speaks to us in many different ways. We need to learn how to listen for his voice. Sometimes he speaks directly to us like he did with Samuel. Which to me shows a personal relationship with God and Samuel. He can speak to us through our study of the word and through our pastor's sermons on Sunday morning. We have to learn to listen. One of the hardest thing to do sometimes. What helps me is I pray for God to speak to me and I go to church and read my bible with the sense of listening for the voice of God in my life. Learning to listen to the Holy Spirit is a daily affair. He is the one that protects us from harm and keeps us from walking too far from God so this is a daily chore in my mind to keep my ears and heart open to listen.
  5. Rebellion and arrogance go hand in hand because to be rebellous against God is being arrogant with God. How dumb we are sometimes that we believe that we know better then God? Again this is a time to come to Christ and ask him to help us be better servants and guide us as he sees fit. This is not an easy walk but we can not do it by ourselves, we need Jesus to walk with us so that we can do right by God and we need to allow him to govern our lives.
  6. My name is Freddie and I feel that rebellion is the same as witchcraft because they both take you away from God. A sin is a sin. There is no points given for one sin or another they are all the same in the eyes of God. Sin!!! Have I rebelled against God? Too many times. The good thing is that we have Jesus to go to for forgiveness and repent of our rebellous ways. The truth is that the love of God will always be stronger then any other thing that tries to get our attention. Saul used too many excuses for why he did what he did, and sometimes we try to do the same. God knows us better then we know oursleves so it is best to do what God wants us to do and live the life that he has for us.
