  1. In my opinion, David's chief motive in marrying Michal was not because he thought he was worthy, since he came from humble stock, and I don't think David had a motive to marry Michal or any daughter of the King. It was Saul's idea. In the end, David was being obedient to Saul's wishes.
  2. Saul sends David into battle to be killed, rather than doing it himself, so that the blood of David would be upon the Phillistines, rather than himself. The result of Saul's coniving against David was that David was successful in all he did, and the people loved David. David's success is attributed to the fact that the Lord was with David.
  3. It's human nature to try in our own strength. If we are seeking God's will, He will take on our battles for us. We just have to listen and obey. Never take the glory that belongs to God. We place ourselves in the proper perspective then...God first.
  4. David believed in the power of God. David was not a trained warrior, but learned to care for his sheep and had first hand knowledge of how to protect them. Saul was behaving humanly in the way he prepared David for battle. With God, and the skill and ability He had given David, David didn't need anything more than God on his side.

  6. David relied on the Lord to enable him to conquer Goliath; Goliath was arrogant; relying on his own strenth.
  7. From Saul's perspective, David was summoned to play the music of the harp to soothe him. From God's perspective, I think it was a way to get Saul to know David, and it was the beginning of the plan He had for David. The things that keep me from learning from God in the midst of circumstances is leaning toward my own knoledge, understanding and wisdom in what I should do. And, I don't always ask Him..."we have not, because we ask not". Being fully open to listening to God and asking Him in every circumstance what I should be learing from it.
  8. Samuel anointing David was the outward and visible sign that David was chosen by God. The significance of the Holy Spirit coming upon David was to give him the power (to enable him) for what God had called him to do. This explains David's success because God was with him. The Holy Spirit is who enables us to go beyond our human selves for accomplishing God's purpose for us. He enables to live in the world, but not of the world.
  9. It's important to follow the details of what God is telling you; otherwise, it may lead to a wrong decision or choice in His plan for you. My instinctive way of discering is just that...instinct; how I feel. God is teaching me to listen well to have discernment; to hear exactly what He is telling me, and to be patient for the answers. I learn from the Holy Spirit by praying and asking God what I should do; by going to church and listending to the word and the sermon; and by personal daily devotion time; and, this Bible study!
  10. Rebellion is as bad as witchcraft or occult practices becase it is the seeking of knowledge without God involved; using another source, rather than seeking "the Source". Rebellion is akin to arrogance because it is thinking that self knows better than God. When I find rebellion against God in my heart, I ask for forgiveness, and the help of the Holy Spirit, not to repeat the same thing again. What happens if I do nothing: Rebellion sets up a stonghold in my heart, and I can become less like Jesus, and more like the the world.
