  1. Samuel anointed David because God took his Spirit from Saul. Saul did things that was not right, he turned from God. The Holy Spirit is the guide that God gives us to help us make the right decisions. David was no different, he was a lowly Shepard. God would prepare him for service. David's success would depend on David himself, but David knew the God in which had him anointed and knew obedience brings blessings. The Holy Spirit is what lives in us and help us in the way God would want us to go. Some people would say they had a gut feeling about something, that is the way the Holy Spirit leads us. As long as the Holy Spirit is invited to stay, He will. But if the Spirit is taken away from us we will have it come to the foot of the cross again.
