  1. Saul sends David into battle to first, get him out of his courts and second, to get him killed so HE will have his attention back. The result is that David becomes even better in battle and more powerful and more trusted by all the leaders as well as the army. His success if because "the LORD was with him".
  2. David is upset because Goliath is taunting the Armies of the Living God...HIS God! And so that infuriates David because he shows such Disrespect to God. I think David is thinking, who is this unclean man that lives in sin that Defies my God! Eliab is upset with David because David is not afraid and he is so David is making him look bad being the "little" brother, when Eliab is suppose to be a strong warrior, but yet in reality he is as scared as the next man standing there. But not David. Plus he may feel a bit of responsibility for David being he is the youngest of the brothers knows that if something happens to him, Jesse, dad, will probably ask HIM why David got hurt and possibly hold him responsible. I think he may be a bit jealous also of David's courage. I think this teaches us that we should not be envious or jealous or one another, but appreciate each other more, especially when we come to help in time of need even though we were not asked to help. I think it teaches us to be strong and stand upon the strength that God gives to the weak. "Though I am weak, YOU are strong!"
  3. The significance of this is that God has chosen a new King to run Israel, the way He wants it run. And he chose a man that no one thought would be the one, the one that Jesse says "was insignificant". God chose a man after His own heart. The significance is to show that when one joins with God, He equips us to do what we need to do, however, whenever, wherever. In the case of Israel now, there was trouble with the Philistines, big and powerful people and how do you fight people like that? with power! God's power! And also power to rule as the new King seeing there was a King set in place already and it was dangerous for david and Samuel. His success comes from his obedience to God, power bestowed upon him. Just like the previous King he had God's power upon him until he disobeyed and started doing his own thing. In order to be successful, we need to be obedient and stay within the spirit of God, His power bestowed upon us as His disciples.
  4. It teaches us to listen to God so we do exactly what He wants us to do the way He wants us to do it. We have to be mindful that God has gone before us and has prepared the way in whatever He has us to do. Our way is to try and second guess God and throw a little of our own thoughts in there. He is teaching us to discern by adhering to what He says and doing it exactly the way He says, no more, no less. Exactly. We listen to the spirit with our hearts, not with our own thoughts. To be still and listen is how we should do it.
  5. Rebellion selfish acts going against everything God stand for. Witch craft is evil and teaches self awareness rather than what God teaches. It teahc you that YOU are powerful and not God. It gives a false sense of being and teaches there is no God but yourself. It places you above God. As for the occult, it teaches you to believe in man rather than God and that man provides for your needs not God. Rebellion is selfish because its about YOU which makes you believe you are better than everyone else including God, that is arrogance. We ca realize our sin and come to God on our knees asking Him to forgive us and ask Him to cleanse our hearts. If we do nothingm we are without God and a wall is placed between Him and ourselves.
