  1. (Isaiah 6:9-10) How do you make sense out of these verses? God's people had resisted Isaiah so much that they could'nt hear, perceive or understand what Isaiah was telling them. Is Isaiah called to an impossible task? No, because there's nothing impossible with God. Why will Isaiah's prophecy make the task worse? The more Isaiah shared the prophecy with the people the more hard hearted they became. In which parable did Jesus quote this passage (Matt13:1-23)? In the parable of the sower. In Jesus' parable, is there any frustration in preaching? Yes, theres frustration in preaching because only 1 person out of 4 receives the word. Is there any hope? Yes, there's hope because people are always receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
  2. What is Isaiah's reaction to the vision? After seeing the vision Isaiah is overcome by his own sense of smallness, unworthiness and sinfulness. How does God deal with Isaiah's fear? God deals with Isaiah's fear by allowing a Seraph to touch his lips with a coal taking away his guilt and atoning for his sin. What question follows Isaiah's cleasing? Isaiah asked how long. What is Isaiah's response to Gods question? Isaiah said here am I ; send me. What is your response when you sense God calling you? when I sense God is calling me my response will be to go.
  3. ( Isaiah 6:1-4) Why do you think Yahweh revealed himself in this way to Isaiah? God revealed himself this way to Isaiah because this was his response to the sins of Judah specifically. In what way does this vision reveal God's majesty? God's majesty was revealed in this vision as he was seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train filled the temple. What do we learn about Yahweh from the Serphaims? We learned that God was Holy, Mighty and creation exibits his glory.
  4. (Isaiah 5:1-6) What was the Vinters Vision for the vineyard? His vision for the vineyard was that it grow good grapes but it yielded bad ones. What did he do to accomplish his vision? He dug it up, cleaned it of stones and planted it with the choicest vines. He built a watchtower in it and cut out a winepress as well. What happened when the crop came in? When the crop came in it yielded only bad fruit. What did the vinter say he would do with the vineyard? He said he would take away its hedge, and it would be destroyed, brake down it's wall and it will be tramped. He said I will make it a waste land, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. He said I will command the clouds not rain on it. What does this parable mean ? This parable meant that the increasing destruction wrought in Judah by the Assayrians, culminating with the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonian Army in 587 BC would surely come past.
  5. What does this prophecy of the future Jerusalem tell us about God's plan for the Jew? This prophecy reveal a universal belief in yahweh, Spiritual Hunger and peace to Judah and Jerusalem. What does this prophecy of the future Jerusalem tell us about God's plan for the Gentile? God's plan for the gentile is that he will judge between nations, and will render decisions for many people; and they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they learn war. Prophecy about Spiritual Hunger? There is a widespread hunger for God's word and way. The People are now seeking, to learn from the true God--- and to obey him, so that we may walk in his paths (2;3b). Prophecy about peace? Yahweh is looked to as the High King whose justice is sought to settle disputes. War becomes a thing of the past and peace reign to such an extent that people turn their weapons into farm implements, since they will never be needed again.
  6. In what way is Judah confused about it's identity according to verses 2-4 ? God likened Judah to his sons, but they had broken his heart because they did not follow his ways. They had become a sinful nation loaded with guilt, a brood of evil doers and children given to corruption! They had forsakened the Lord, they had spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. God also wanted a relationship with them so he could teach them his ways, but they refused. What are the consequences when christians today suffer from such identity confusion? They lose God's protection and if they refused to repent they will be lost ( separated from God forever). What injustice does God accuse his people of in verses 15-17? Their hands were full of blood, their deeds were evil, they were doing wrong, they were'nt encouraging the oppressed, or defending the cause of the fatherless nor pleading the case of the widow. Why were their behavior in verse 18-20 unreasonable? Their behavior were unreasonable because God was willing to forgive them of their sins if they consented to reason with him by obeying him, but they resisted and rebelled against God. What does God offer as an alternative? God offers forgiveness and cleansing for their sins if they consented to obey him, but if they refused and rebeled they would be devoured by the sword.
