  1. Q2A. (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5) Why is the Holy Spirit's working so necessary to effective ministry? Because without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, who will lead, guide and direct the paths of His chosen men and women; how can one be certain that their calling be of God or of us? The Holy Spirit will confirm things to us and allow us to know when we are in the will of God, when we stay in contact with Him. God gives us the power to do His will when we know that within ourselves we are weak and powerless and can do nothing to affect change in anyone’s life. 2B. What happens when the main power behind our ministry is will-power? If the main power behind our own ministry is will-power----------- IT WILL FAIL! But I do believe that ‘will-power’ that is loaded with the “main” power will succeed. 2C.What is the role of miracles in Paul's evangelism? The role of miracles in Paul’s evangelism was to strengthen and encourage believers; and inspire non-believers into repentance and salvation. The miracles stood as a testimony of the power of God; that one day “The King” would return for His church. The miracles served to be a witness that God was a living God; and that living a Holy life brought great joy to the Father; and it brought them closer to being with Him when He returns. 2D. What would happen if we saw miracles in evangelism in our day? I believe that some people would accept what they were seeing as God’s power and be saved. Some would laugh and call it heresy, or a fake, or a joke. Some would be as those were in Paul’s day and run us out of town on a rail. 2E.What is hindering this? The willingness or boldness to step out, for fear of being made fun of or attacked is part of the hindrance, also we sometimes lose sight of God when we try to do things of our own accord, then when we try—we fail.
  2. 1,The Jews in Thessalonica were upset that Paul was attracting a large following and sought to stop him. Because some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and not a few prominent women." according to (Acts 17:1-4). Conversion from paganism was taking place. People were being moved into service of God. The high ranking became very angry and jealous because to many of their workers were getting saved to the glory of God. 1 B. Why do you think Paul keeps preaching the gospel, even though there is often a violent reaction against him? I believe Paul continued to preach because of a vision he had in Macedonia of a man asking him to come and help him. I believe that this was symbolic of God calling him into the ministry; and asking him to go everywhere and teach ‘all’ of the people about The Christ. Paul felt this call so strongly that there was nothing that could deter him. 1C. Does a violent reaction to our ministry necessarily mean we should stop? No! I believe that a violent reaction to our ministry stands to confirm that God is truly speaking through it. I believe that we should be like Paul and be undeterred, continue the fight to reach the masses in whatever way the Lord is leading us. He will take care of us. Praise God.
  3. Hi, I'm CLU. I am from Virginia. I really want to learn a lot through this study. I am reaching out to God to be my guide and my instructor. I am asking Him to speak to my heart and to speak into my spiritual ears what He wants to reveal to me in this study. I am thankful for this opportunity and thankful to Dr. Wilson for your leadership in this study. Thank you; and all praises to God. I will try to post some of my responses; and I want to learn from each of you.
  4. How does David strengthen himself in the Lord when things are going bad? What devotional praises does he adopt? What is the focus of his faith? I believe that David went to his secret place, within himself, a place where he was able to be alone with God even in the midst of his present surroundings; and he began to call upon the Lord of his help as he has done many times before. I also believe that David found himself at one of the lowest times in his life; and he had to deciede whether to throw it all away or to call out to God for His forgiveness; and His rescue. David didn't make a snap decision, instead he sang praises unto the Lord, He worshipped him, he told the Lord that he knew that GOD was the God of his salvation and that he knew God would show him the way. He put his faith to work; and his faith was sure and unwavering. He found strengh in the Lord of his salvation. God is his focus, the ever present help in the time of trouble. He realized that God was waiting to answer his prayers, to restore everything which was lost from them. David knew if his praise and worship were sincere with humility the Lord would answer. David teaches us the way we should appear before mankind in our times of trouble and distress. He teaches us that we do have a choice, we can either allow ourselves to fall off the deep end of dispare, or we can fall down on our knees and remember the things that God has done for us and know for certain that he will be there again. God is waiting ready to forgive, rescue; and restore, all we need to do is strengthen ourselves , yet again in the Lord our God. Amen! and glory to God.
