  1. Q5. What is the difference between Jesus' resurrection and his ascension? How do the two fit together? In what sense is the ascension the completion of the resurrection? Jesus' resurrection was when his body left the tomb, Proving that he had risen from the dead, never to die again. His ascention was when his body was taken up to heaven. His diciples knew then without a doubt, that he was God and his home was in heaven. With the resurrection and the ascention ...it makes the cycle complete. Proving that our God is a living God.
  2. Q3. (Luke 24:12; John 20:6-8) What about the grave clothes brought Peter and John to faith? What was so peculiar about them? The head cloth was folded, and the cloth his body was wrapped in remained intact.........as if he had slipped right through them without disturbing them. Taking the time to fold the head cloth ....and place it on the shelf was proof that Jesus' body had not been stolen. When Peter and John they realized that his body was not stolen, therefore he had to have risen.
  3. Q2. What similarities do you find in the resurrection accounts? Based on the agreements between the accounts, what seems to have happened? The stone had already been rolled away when the women arrived and the tomb was empty. The burial garments were in the tomb, proof that our Lord had risen from the dead. There were angel's or at least an angel there when the women arrived. The diciples were confused, although he had told them he would rise again, they had not understood what he meant.
  4. Q4. What do we know from the Gospels about the properties of Jesus' resurrection body? What was he capable of in this new body? The resurrected body of Christ was not merely imagination nor was it a ghost like appearance. The diciples were able to touch him, and he talked with them. Neither was his body a restored body like Lazarus's....Jesus' body was immortal. Hes was able to appear and disappear.
  5. Q1. What differences do you find between the various resurrection accounts? How do you account for differences in eyewitness testimony? How might these differences add to the credibility of the witnesses? There are several minor differences concering the resurrection of Christ. In one book we read only Mary Magdalene goes to the tomb, another book read women at the tomb. Also the number of angels seems to be in question, as well as what the woman/ women were doing at the tomb. The cloth in which Jesus was wrapped was also different depending on which book you were reading. I think these differences can be summed up by saying that different people explain things differently.. For instance, have you ever wittnessed an automobile acident ? When the police arrive and begen to ask questions not all accounts will be exactly the same...pretty close but with minor differences, because we are all different we explain things differently. The point is Jesus was resurrected from the dead and He Lives.
  6. Why did Jesus' enemies heed his prediction of being raised on the third day even more than his disciples? Did his enemies expect him to rise? Did his followers? The very moment that Jesus shouted and gave up his spirt, the temple curtain was torn into, from top to bottom. The earth shook , rocks split apart, and tombs opened. The bodies of many Godly men and women who had died, were raised from the dead, after Jesus resurrection. the left the cemetery , went into the holy city of Jerusalem, and appered to many people. The Roman officers and other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by what they had seen and they said...".Truly this is the son of God"!
  7. . (John 5:28-29; Acts 24:15) According to scripture, both the righteous and unrighteous will experience resurrection. What will be the result of resurrection for the righteous? Those who have rebelled against Christ will be resurrected also, but they will hear God's judgment against them an will be sentenced to eternity apart from him. There are those who wish to live well on this earth, and ignore, God, and see death as a final resting place. Jesus does not allow unbelivers to see death as the end of it all. There is judgment to face. The rightous will spend eternity with their God in Heaven.
  8. Q3. (John 11:23-25) What do you think Jesus meant when he said, "I am the resurrection and the life"? What role will Jesus play in the resurrection of the dead? Jesus made that statement to Martha......when her brother Lazarus had died. Becuse he is the Creator of life. Whoever believes inChrist has a spirtual life that death cannot conquer or diminish in any way. Jesus has power over life and death as well the power to forgive sin. Jesus will be the one that calls believers to him even those in the graves when he comes again to judge the living and the dead, and his power will have no end. Child of God
  9. Q1. How does Job's vision of resurrection (Job 19:25-27) differ from the Jews' former understanding of death as Sheol? What is progressive revelation? At the heart of the book of Job, is Job's confidence. What faith Job had even fgaced with death and decay . He expected to see God, and he expected to see him in his own body. Job actually became one if the first people to begen talking about the resurrection of the body. Job's vision of resurrection is different from the Jew's, Job expected to see God in his own body. Leading us to believe in a phyical resurrection. Job saw a life with God, a life of love and joy..no more phyical pain and no mor sorrow. Yhe Jew's on the oother hand did not believe in resurrection they believed that death meant dispair, hopelessness and no one would see God. I believe that pregressive revelation means....that as we grow and progress in faith as we read the word of God we are able to understand more. Just as Job grew in faith and was able to see beyond the resurrection and see his redeemer.
