  1. God does not want to muzzle or bridle His people like a horse. he expects His servants to respond promptly to Him of their own accord. He calls for all the righteous to join him in public praise of the wonder of God's mercy. We doubt God's Character (32:1-2) The reason we often times delay confession, to our own detriment , is because we forget this, or we don't understand this about God, and so we conceal and hide our sin-from God and other. In the same way that our physical bodies can become I'll our souls, our spirits within us an become I'll too. Confession to God is the remedy. Blessed is he whose transgression are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.
  2. I Kept Silence: The silence was a stubborn resistance to admitting guilt, a hope that in time the sin it's penalty would go away. The more one delay his confession, the more he suffers. Once you realize it was not just your conscience or our feelings that were assaulting us, but the heavy hand of God. No matter who else is hurt, the principal offense of any sin is always against God. You Forgave: The consequence of our sin remained despite God's forgiveness. But at this point, the greater news was God's forgiveness. God will restore His relationship with us. On the basis of our own experience, we can teach others, that they can also experience forgiveness if they will come to the Lord in faith. He who is pardon, has in every case been taught to deal honesty with himself, his sin, and his God. forgiveness is no sham, and the peace which it brings is not caused by playing tricks with conscience. Self deception and hypocrisy bring no blessedness. Those who are justified from fault are sanctified from falsehood. A liar is not forgiven. Self-deceit in our inner peron is so self-destructive. We might know deep down that we're done something wrong, but at the surface level. We rationalize our actions, refusing to admit the dpth of our guilt. The result-physical and emotional drain that takes its toll on the life. The key is to apply truth to the self-deceit. That is what the word does for us. When we apply lies to mask our sin, the result is the inner soul of a human being which cries out for relief from guilt at some level. "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.". (James 5:16)
  3. God wants us to have Godly sorrow fully repenting for our sins, not because of what our loss is but because we have grieved the Lord with our sin. We feel sorrow and remorse over our shame and regret having ever offended our Lord. God doesn't want us to use fakery but a sincere Contrite humbling heart. A broken spirit! He wants us to humble ourselves in the site of the Lord. Only then will He lift us up forgiving us of our sins. Anyone can apologize for something they did but a true repentant heart is broken and sorry and surrendered. True repentance is needed to allow the working of the Holy Spirit to help bring about a change attitude and heart. Humility in contrast with a wounded spirit, those with a broken spirit are humble, acknowledge their wrongs, having genuine sorrow and a desire to repent and make things right with God and others.
  4. Q2. A Purified Heart (Psalm 51: 10-11) 2. By praying to God for a pure heart and a willing spirit. "Create in me a pure heart , O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me (psalm 51:10) "and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me", (psalm 51:12 A spirit that longs to save God, a heart that is inclined to him. Create our heart to be renewed, restored, and transformed By not taking the Holy Spirit from us. Granting me experience of God's grace as a renewed motivation to bringing others into the knowledge of the love and mercy of God and to be upheld by God's free spirit.
  5. Psalm 51:1-9 1. No because nothing good dwells from sin. the guilt; of the unhealthy dwelling of sin in our hearts causes suffering to our well being and to others. The dwelling of sin is even more against our heavenly father it is a breach that must be healed at all cost. We recognize that in life we as believers will constantly have to battle with sin because of our human nature and must confess and acknowledge our sin to God for his mercy. THE PLEAD FOR GOD'S MERCY (PSALM 51:1-3) "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to yout great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse mefrom my sin"
  6. It is also at this time that David begins to focus on his son Solomon to succeed him as king in line to be king. His son and he had it in their heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. David prepares architectural drawings for the entire temple complex. "Then David gave Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its upper parts, its innerrooms and the place of atonement. He gave him the plansof all the Spirit had put in his mind, for the courts of the temple of the LORD and the surrounding rooms, for the treasuries of the temple of God and for the treasuries for the dedicated things" "All this, David said; i have in writing from the hand of the LORD upon me, and he gave me understanding in all the details of the plan." 1 Chronicles 28:11-12,19 David confucts afundraising program among the leaders. First, he sets the example by generous giving. Then he calls on leaders of families, officers of the tribes, military commanders, and members of the court to give. The generous example of the leaders, in turn, encourages the people of Israel. "The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the LORD
  7. David three-way choice: 1. Three years of famine 2. Three months of being purdued by their enemies 3. Three days of plague David is ambivalent about the decision, but he chooses the third choice ultimately because he believes strongly in the mercy of his God. "Let us fall into the handd of the LORD. For his mercy is great; but fo not let me fsll into the hands of men. David insist on paying Araunah for it. He will not sacrifice to the LORD his God burnt offeting that cost him nothing. He paid fifty shekels of silver for them. He built an alter to the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and felliwship offerings. When we give our tithes and offerings to the Lord; our tithe is a mere token and a true piece of ourselves.
  8. "the son of Jesse, the oracle of the man exalted by the Most High, the man anointed by God of Jacob, Israel's singer of songs". God spoken to David through visions, dreams, and voice: His prophecies regarding the coming Messiah found in the Psalms 22:1 "The Spirit of the Lord spoken through me, his words was on my tongue". Appreciation: For what a god has made. Observation: We receive national revelation is through studying what God has made. All creation including the heavens reveals Gods glory and majesty. The vast expanse we see is testimony to the craftsmanship of God. From the vantage point of earth, there is no heavenly body so wonderful as the sun. In this passage, the sun is only a stunning symbol of the Creator. God's Plan For a Nation's Leadership To protect His people, God warns against ungodly leaders. The rule of the wicked is a direct violation of His will. "The wicked shall not rule the godly, lest the godly be forced to do wrong." (Psalm 125.3). Instead , God's plan is for us to have leaders who know Him and will rule according to His word. "He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God " (2 Samuel 23:3)
  9. The most inspiring in the language is of David's hymn of his celebration to the grace of God. His Psalm of truth. What encourages me the most is how he declares his love for God. All the various titles and metaphors used in this Psalm 18 I will love You, O LORD, my strength ( love compassion as deep as a mothers love) The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer ( to God as a mountain fortress that protects the believers) My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold ( stronghold reinforce the image of a god as protector) I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised ( to God who is worthy of celebration of his praise) So shall I be saved from my enemies ( gave him shield from his enemies ) Rhndwsh aka Rhndwsh53
  10. A. David had learned in the grace and mercy of the Lord, even though he did not know what lay ahead for him. God assumes full respinsibility for our needs when we obey Him B. The full- of-faith David is most visible when times are tough-fighting Goliath, escaping Saul's army, recovering his family from the Amalekites, and fleeing from Absalom. C. David was clearly a man after God'S heart. one way this is show. In his traits of grace, mercy, patience, kindness, and also justice. (These are also some of the fruits of the Spirit--Galatians 5:22,evident in the lives of those who obey God-Acts 5:32). A. Joab was such a vicious opponent: He was also extremely strong, ambitious, loyal & very successful commanding officer for David. He continued to gain power over David, leading the Army into battle and conquering people's around them. Joab--The final opportunity fell to Joab, when David having sinned in the matter of Uriah's wife Bathsheba, sent a message to Joab to withdraw from Uriah in the heat of the battle, so that he would be killed. Joab nownhad a hold on David as partner with him in the murder of Uriah(As a loyal commander Joab acceded to David's directive to have Uriah killed) B. Joab deeply involved in bring Absalom home from exile. This can be seen as protecting his future position or the dynasty. C. Joab could be construed as killing a rebel. He no longer protecting David, but himself. A. Our true friends are those who rally around us when we're down and they have nothing to gain by the friendship. Friends show generosity in our times of trouble. B. Friendship: Ecclessiastes 4:9-12 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not one another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they will keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him a threefold cord is not quickly broken No! and David knew . As his death drew near, King David advised his son Solomom, who he chose to become his royal successor , to waste no time dealing with his cousin Joab. "Moreover you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether , whom he slew, and she'd the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and his shoes that were on his feet. Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoary head go down to the grave in peace". Rhndwsh aka Rhndwsh53
  11. Because he love Absalom so much. Joab believes, killing David's enemy; even against orders Absalom has sought to kill the Lord's anointed his father and deserves to die. David. Wept so excessively over Absalom that it demoralised the troops who had just fought risking their lives for him. They have high regards for their king to the point that they were willing to put their lives on the line to protect him. This show their undying loyalty to him no matter what. Like a marriage bond to death do them apart. His weakness is the lack of discipline towards his family and friends.
  12. David hoped that the Lord would look upon his repentant heart and render a blessing to compensate for Shimel's curse. David spiritual response " let him curse, for the Lord has told him to, so it may be that the Lord will see my distress and repay me with good for the cursing I am receiving today." This show his his faithfullness to God and that he still seeks the will of God.
