  1. by his responsibilities toward us. (2)i don't believe the church is the bride. i believe israel is his bride. i believe we are part of the bridegroom. and just as the bible says a man and woman will become one flesh, so will israel and his church.
  2. being a boss...mmm...throwing orders around...top dog and head cheese....nope, no room for that.even though some may want to try, outta both genders,it has no room for love, only commands.(2)god has put the responsibility on us guys to shepherd our families the way he shepherds us,
  3. well it comes down to a choice. when she said i do, she gave all of herself to her husband. she gave up her rights to herself just as she had done with the lord when she first believed.and as she submits her love and respect will increase for her husband and for the lord.(2) a non believing wife only has herself in mind. she is first in her life and is self centered and hard to be around. the truth has no place in her life, and she wants god to conform to her ways. not her to gods.(3)a godly marriage has both the husband and wife submitting to one another, and both should honor each ones ideas. they should be able to talk it over rather than scream at each other.
  4. we should pour out all that we are before the lord. as far as singing, i sound like a yak with razor burn. but to god it is symphony. and if i close my eyes, i not only shut the world out, but also the painful looks i get from injuring the ears around me. so what do i say? go ahead and belt it out. the tune may need some work but you just may encourage someone else with the words, edify the body, i say.when it all comes down you have to ask yourself, what's he worth to you? so go ahead and let loose.
  5. this is right up my alley. i was using both for a way to escape the pain of living and facing life as it came. there is no substitute for the spirit. drugs and alcohol couldn't come close to what the spirit offers. look, i was running away from life with drugs and alcohol, but with the spirit of god i am facing it head on knowing he is leading with his rod and staff. sure i still get spooked about the unsureity of life, but this one thing i know is his promises are real and he stays true to them.
  6. we can become so caught up in our own lives that we forget the purpose god has desired for us.we get busy in this temporal world we forget about the eternal one. gotta be movers and shakers ya know. we really need to listen to god like mary did, at the feet of jesus.
  7. there are 3 sexual sins in the bible that i know of, which are adultery, fornication and sexual immorality. it is obvious that sex can control a person whether in deed or thought. ephesus must have been swimming in sexual behavior that paul had to address it so abruptly. sexual sin affects the heart and its ability to love, much like pride fills the empty head, sexual immorality fills the empty heart.(2)as long as you are in christ and he in you, god will make all things permissible to you.
  8. ouch i feel the nails coming off this coffin. okay, there is an answer that works on paper, but that is not for this question. living by schedules and lists is not intimacy at all. so here goes...i believe we find it so hard to forgive those who hurt us because we still think we have rights to ourselves and we want blood for the crime. not just anyones blood, but those who caused the pain.you see, we are mean people inside and out. and noone is gonna do that to us and get away with it.vengence is mine saith me, you know.christ is our example. compassion and understanding with kindness, we gotta remember we was like the world as well. if we are not immitators of christ we are not showing him
  9. noone i know likes to be attacked, beaten down, spit on, wadded up and thrown away. we are vindictive and aggressive people and we like to retaliate. but when christ brought us to life, all our rights went to him. it is his right to handle our pain and sufferings of this world.so all our wounds will be healed if we go to him. the scar may remain but our peace will be intact. you know we are so quick on people hurting us, yet i wonder how many people we hurt and disappoint each day. i know one who we should look unto in every case of injustice and spite, he is jesus.
  10. you name it, we know we have said it. you know, proverbs tells us that even a foolish man is thought to be wise if he keeps his mouth shut. we are really good at breaking things and we really find ourselves struggling when we try to build any kind of relationship. from flattery to jokes, we have a way to tear things down.we should use our words wisely by sharing good things and building up and strengthening one another, and by ministering grace by helping each other as we live out this life here. slander is good for one thing and that is the grave. let it rot there.the only way to prevent it is the holy spirit. noone can hold his tongue. it must be turned over to the holy spirit.

  12. we needed it to know humility. it's a warning device if you will, to show us how close we are to sin. if we cross the anger line we will certainly hurt someone or something including ourselves.we need to turn our emotions in to god. he alone will balance them and protect them even in the worst degree.we must trust him.
  13. tolerance. nobody wants to step on toes and get uncomfortable in the truth. it's more like here's a little truth but instead of it changing us, let's change it to conform to our lives. that way noone will be offended and we can all go singing tra-la-la. why we are so tempted is we still have to work on our thinking and our attitudes toward everything.

  15. that would be like our road crews out here in california, one guy does all the work and ten guys around him watching him work. what good is that? just because you know what to do doesn't give you an excuse from not doing it. there is no "lord-over" ministry. we must function in unity or there really isn't any function at all.
  16. i would look at the life of stephen. heres a guy who helped the needy did all the small jobs under the apostles, went through hours to make sure noone was overlooked, yet when it came to speak... whammo, stephen had the ammo! you know there are times when the pastor has lost my attention in the study. i just don't want a bunch of information, ya know? i can get bits here and there, but for the most part,i'm better off reading and praying on my own. i believe that the heart of the pastor is so compassionate for jesus and it would hurt deeply to tell a senior pastor though we appreciate your time and effort, this really isn't for you. acceptance is what we all crave and this could go either way. the holy spirit gives the gifts as well as the comfort. so the word of god must come before any loyalty or feelings.
  17. i think we need to live out the life within us first. we need to let the unbelieving world see that there is a true and living god within us.as we walk by faith they will either crave what the lord is doing in our lives or they will hate us for what the lord is doing in our lives. either way, they will be shown the gospel truth and they will have to choose for themselves whom they will believe.
  18. i think that if paul and peter were here today they would knock all the churches heads together.i believe by reading 2 timothy3:16 they would show us what is right(doctrine), whats not right(reproof), how to get right(correction), and how to stay right(instruction) false apostles lead us away from christ.sometimes it is hard to see their lies clearly,so we must put every word under the microscope. the word of god can have many rabbit trails if we don't correctly divide the truth.we must spend quality time in the word of god with the holy spirit as our teacher. `
  19. the holy spirit gives the gifts. as for our natural talents being related to spirtual i don't think so. when i died to self all that went with it and god created me new,so the gifts are new. i'm sure that we can say we act in gods interest through our natural abilities and claim it for god and so decieve ourselves.but in all actuality, thats what the people did in matthew 25saying lord we did these in your name and he said go away i never knew you. the difference between the two is one has conditions the other is unconditional. one will wear you out the other will energize you.
  20. oh boy, we need everything we got and then some. we can't just hold our breath or clamp down on our back teeth or even count to ten, we must focus and center our mind, heart strength on jesus and pray with our spirit.when we strike, it's out of what we know instead of who we know.
  21. without patience and humility there would be a lot of fistfights and trash talking.right doctrine with arrogance nullifies speak the truth in love.paul said it plainly, knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.we need to be like the rabbi's when then heard a new teaching they didn't discredit it or accept it until they studied it, then they made their decision whether to keep it or not.i think we need to be as pure as we can be with our doctine, but without love it won't add up to a hill of beans.
  22. we are suppose to act like our parents. even though we have natural dads and moms, our new parents are the holy spirit and the word of god.god has called us his own, we are his sons and daughters.
  23. it's been said that if the holy spirit was taking out of the church today, many would keep on doing what their doing without even knowing he left. mmm. sure makes ya think about that one. but if we could just for a moment praise him for what he's worth all in one mind and spirit in unity, i don't think we would stop.we would be as the first in acts2:42-47 and in acts 4:32-35.ah, in my life the martha, or the busyness would lickity split.yep, to sit at his feet and worship, listening to him, thats where it's at, or even to just lean over as john did and just listen to him breathe, that would be just as well fulfilling.
  24. yesterdays grace is not enough for today. as we need to eat, drink, and rest physically, also it is a necessity to refresh ourselves in the lord.so being filled with the spirit is a continual deal.all we can do is is humble ourselves and ask god to become more and to help me to become less.
  25. i think we like to keep god at a distance from us so that we can dabble with our own lives. we like him when it's convenient for us. (2)our world changes drastically. everything seems to fade away except the lord himself.(3)time. i would have so much more time for everyone else, all things would be placed in order and love would abound much.
