  1. Apostasy means to revolt. Revolt means to take the other side. So if you revolt you've taken the other side, you would have to revolt again to get to the other side. Our heart is like the soil. If our heart is hard, the seed can be sewn but because of the hardness it will never take root. If the seed has fallen along the rocks, it would be like grain falling out of the grain trucks (falling on the sides of the road), where there is a little bit of soil and it will spring up because of the little nourishment but it isn't going to last long. Or, like the seed sewn among the thistles is like that same grain truck throwing seed deeper into the bourough pit., seeds falling among the knapweed and all the other noxious weeds (those noxious weeds will take over everything). Jesus was talking about: it will depend very much on our heart on how we receive the Word. The point is that in any assembly there are these tares or weeds, in todays vernacular., if we were to rip out all of the wheat and tares it would cause a major split and a major destruction that would injure the legitimate wheat. Jesus is saying, "leave it, I'll tend to that, you can't root that out."
  2. I having trouble with this question. Hebrews 6:4,5 ends with a comma. What difference are you referring to? I rather enjoy this study, this question though has absolutely thrown me a curve. I don't think there is an answer the way it is stated, in my mind. I don 't think I can answer part two either, unless I am just totally missing something. Acts 17:11 comes to mind.
  3. we are not servants but friends. Therefore, we are His house if we hold onto our courage and hope of which we boast. So we don't go astray in our faith. If we don't hold fast, we won't enter His rest. I don't understand this paragraph, stating : these Jewish Christians................The writer gives them a stern warning -- you are only part of the Messiah's household if you continue firm in your faith in Him. Any comment?
  4. I guess the best way to answer this question is to give an illustration: years ago, I started bowling. I fell head over heals in love with the game. I was not at all proficient, I made many mistakes. So I took it upon myself to practice faithfully. In time, I was able to acquire a skill, and attain a certain degree of success. After practicing and doing the same things over and over, when I did make a mistake I could recognize my error immediately and correct my fault. You can apply this to the scriptural principle, to practice ones biblical conviction and in time, you will recognize a sin or that you've gone off the path immediately. Repent, and get back on. To grow in maturity is to work hard, study, to see what God is really telling us, and not to rely on preachers or teachers to explain the Gospel to us, but to have them, give us confirmation of what God has already told us.
  5. The truth of salvation has been confirmed to me by the transforming of my life - my attitude, my vision, my goals. Sign and wonders would have to go along with what God has done in me. That, quite honestly, is the only sign that I would believe. These days with technology, man can duplicate everything and anything.
  6. We drift by not occupying ourself with what we have heard. We are to be responsible for what we have heard - anchor ourseves to the Gospel, of what we have heard and to not let our mind drift to nonproductive areas. Every seed that is planted needs nourishment. Jesus likened the Word to a seed that is planted in rocky or shallow soil, where there is no nourishment, therefore in time it would not sprout and if it did it would soon dry up.
  7. The description given is the exact description of God. Jesus is the exact representation of God, therefore He is God and therefore is divine. Hebrews declares the Son as the one through whom He made the universe. The Son Jesus, has the heart of the Father - not my will but Thine be done. He spoke the universe into existence, and the Son, by His word, sustains or keeps is together.
  8. As a biological relationship. The son would have the heart of the Father, and hear the heart of the Father because of the covenant relationship.
