  1. Hi. My name is Leona. I live in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I'm 53, single with one son, a beautiful daughter-in-law and 3 wonderful grandchildren. I have taken Great Prayers of the Bible and learned a lot. I have never been able to "get in to the psalms" so I am hoping this study helps me. God's deepest blessings to all.
  2. Q4. Why should we continually ask forgiveness? How can unforgiveness on our part block God's blessing? How can unforgiveness block God's forgiveness? We are always human and sin in thought or word if not deed. We need God's mercy to continue to receive the Holy Spirit to help us with this. If we can't forgive others, we are retaining a sin of judgement and not acting toward others as we would like to receive from others. Love your neighbor as yourself.
  3. Why do we seek to be independent of asking anyone for help? Why do we seek to be independent of God? Why should we ask God to "give" us daily bread so long as we can earn a living for ourselves? Pride I never seek to be independent of God - without Him I am nothing Sometimes I cannot pray -during chronic depression, but that is when God and my guardian angel pray for me and I know this. My husband was self-employed so I was always praying for my daily bread. Telling God I needed help with payroll and He always got it for me. Telling God when there was no work on the horizon and to help us in mind body and soul. HE DOES! We have to do things ourselves but when God is your pilot He puts things in your way to help you. Always ask for help with daily needs. That is one prayer that always gets a positive reply.
  4. In what sense are we asking that the Father's kingdom should come? Why are we asking for the Father's will to be done here on earth? How should this prayer affect our living? We are telling God that we want to join Him in Heaven meanwhile here on earth we want His will to always be done; for the world to recognize Him and put away sinful ways. We are asking Him to help us to carry the crosses that we must carry on this earth with patience, love and thanksgiving. We should live as if we could meet Jesus at any moment. We need to know that we have been making every effort to live blameless lives and to turn to Him for mercy and forgiveness when we fall.
  5. Q1. What about our lives and words "hallows" the name of our Father? What desecrates and besmirches it? How should we "hallow" the Father when we begin to pray? Our lives should be lived in an imitation of how Jesus lived when He walked on earth. We are a pale imitation but if we strive for the life He lived we are on the right path. In this manner we honor God our Father. We should never never use any of the words that refer to God or Jesus unless we are in prayer or supplication. To me any swearing is desecrating God because He expects better from us. We should pray with reverence, love and a total belief. Talk to God all during your day but at some point find a quiet spot, bless yourself and pray quietly and deeply.
  6. Hi. My name is Leona. I live in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I am a devout Catholic; like everyone, my prayer life always needs a boost. I joined Cursillo in 2006 and am learning to walk the walk as taught by Jesus. I am looking forward to this study on prayers of the Bible. May God Bless us all!
