I think it was because Paul's preaching attracted people from all levels and to lose a "large number" of this group would have had a strong impact on the synagogue -- and its finances. Also because the Jews were jealous.
Why do you think Paul keeps preaching the gospel, even though there is often a violent reaction against him?
I think Paul continues to preach because of the vision he saw, he believed it to be GOD's calling for him to preach the gospel.
Does a violent reaction to our ministry necessarily mean we should stop?
No, I don't think the gospel should stop being preached because of violent reactions.
