  1. Verse 10 teaches us that Jesus is God's son, and that He rose from the dead, He is our saviour and He will return again. It also reminds us of God's wrath against sin. That Jesus is our saviour is the most important element, as to believe that we accept all the teachings. I believe that God's wrath against sin has been undermined today, the fear of God is a good thing and shows respect and this is sorely lacking in the church today.
  2. Imitation is important in the formation of a new Christian's spiritual life as it is a guide, aiding them to follow the right path. Serving ministries are conducive to imitation as they are very open to witness. The character of the mentor/leader is so important to the health of the church as it underpins everything that that church believes and portrays. People's growth in Christ is stunted if they are not part of a Christian community as we need the fellowship. My character is important to my family and spiritual children as they learn who I really am from my actions and I hope to show them I am trying to follow Jesus in my daily life.
  3. The Holy Spirit's working is necessary for effective ministry because without it noting would happen. It isn't us who convert people, we are just a carrier of the message but it is the Holy Spirit who convicts people's hearts. If we rely on our own will-power then nothing will come of it. Miracles in Paul's evangelism add substance to his teachings, something tangible for unbelievers to "see". I'm not sure we are as ready to accept miracles these days especially as they would undoubtedly be disputed and opposed. I think our child like faith has waned and this is hindering us.
  4. I think there was such strong opposition in Thessalonica as Paul's teachings were a threat to the equilibrium in the city as people were being drawn away from the synagogues along with their monetry contributions. Paul persisted with his ministry in light of violent reactions as he was fully committed to sharing the truth. A violent reaction doesn't mean we should stop our ministry but perhaps to find different ways.
