  1. First let me preface this by saying I am not Catholic and this is my own personal opinion and I mean no offense. I personally do not think we, as Christians, are hesitant to say Mary is "blessed among women" but I do think we are hesitant to use the titles "Blessed Virgin Mary" and "Holy Mary, Mother of God" because, to me, although these titles are true, it is placing titles of worship on Mary and she was totally human. and not to be worshiped. When worshipers pray using these titles I feel they are placing Mary in a place above humanity. The angel said "blessed are you among women" not above women. She was just a servant of God like we all are and although she gave birth to God in human form and although He was sinless she was not. I believe she should not be exalted or prayed to because, to me, that is placing her on the same level as Jesus.
  2. Yes, I agree with everyone that this is true submission to the plans God had for Mary but she also placed unwavering trust and faith in God that He was going to take care of everything and her life would be not only spared but she would be "blessed among women." I believe that there is coming a day when we, as Christians, will be placed in a situation where we will have to take a stand and it very well could mean death if we choose to stand for Christ. Will we be able to have the same faith that Mary had when she was approached by the angel? Mary's response showed her servants heart and willingness to submit to whatever God had for her. When she responded humbly and willingly she was in a sense saying "not my will but Yours be done", much like Jesus said in the Garden when He was praying. When we respond to God we consent to be used by Him to be His witnesses, to "go and tell" and let Him use our lives for His glory.
  3. The virgin conception teaches us that Jesus is fully God and fully human, He was born of woman, into sin, but being of God had no sin. The doctrine of virgin conception is the cornerstone of the Christian message because if He had not been of God He would have been born of sin, not into sin, making Him fully human just as any man is, therefore come resurrection day the tomb would have still held the body of a mere man.
  4. I think it was the condition of their heart. Mary's question didn't question the announcement but how this was going to come about; "How will this be, since I am a virgin?" She took it on faith that it was going to happen she was just wondering how it was going to happen. Zechariah's question was filled with doubt and disbelief and he questioned the announcement; "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years." I believe in his heart he was questioning God and believing it would never happen.
  5. He is the Son of the Most High and His Kingdom will endure forever.
  6. Hey everyone, I am Kareen and I am from Lubbock, Texas. I am 47 years old and I have 3 children plus I am Mom^2 to 3 in-laws. I also have 5 beautiful grandchildren. I grew up in a Christian home and I am the wife of a Baptist pastor. I have done the study in Psalms and The Names of God but did not participate in the forums. Looking forward to delving into the word of God in this study.
  7. Q1. (Psalm 8). What does this psalm teach about God? What does it teach about human beings? What does it teach us about Christ? What does it teach about our responsibilities? What this Psalm teaches: About God; He is the all-powerful creator, majestic and worthy of all praise. About human beings; When we look at the vast expanse of creation, how can God be concerned for us as humans who constantly disappoint Him, yet we are created only a little lower than Himself or the angels. We have tremendous authority, we are in charge of the whole earth. When we look at creation, we often feel small by comparison and that is a healthy way to get back to reality, but God doesn't want us to dwell on our smallness, with our humility comes proper respect for God. We have great worth because we bear the stamp of the Creator. About Christ; That He took on human form and He perfectly reflects God's image. About our responsibilities; with the authority God has given us comes great responsibility to use our resources wisely because as stewards of the earth we are held accountable.
  8. He is above all things and worthy of all our praise and worship. As I pray and meditate, this is the name I address first. I acknowledge Him as Most High and then I come before the throne of grace and pour my heart out to Him. All things are possible through Him. He is the ultimate authority in all things. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. At the end of time all will bow before Him and acknowledge that HE IS EL ELYON!
  9. They were both monotheistic believing in One True God, God Most High, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
  10. Hello everyone, blessings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. My name in Kareen and I live in Texas. I have been searching for a Bible study on the Names of God for a long time so finding this has been an answer to prayer. I am married to a Baptist Minister and we have 3 grown children that are all married and two of them have started families, so I am Nana to 4 grandchildren. I became interested in studying the names of God when I read a book by that title by Ken Hemphill. I am excited to be a part of this study.
